Produced by Pat Aeby (Krokus) | To Raise Awareness about the Oceanic Preservation Society
At Sunset Recordings, we’ve always believed in music that moves. Moves your soul. Moves the needle. And in the case of “The Sea” by Richtaste, it’s music that moves the world — calling for global attention to one of the most horrific and heartbreaking marine atrocities of our time: the hunting, capturing, and killing of dolphins in Taiji, Japan.
Now streaming worldwide on Sunset, “The Sea” isn’t just a song — it’s a statement. A cinematic, emotionally charged anthem produced by the legendary Pat Aeby (best known for his work with hard rock icons Krokus) and performed with stirring intensity by Richtaste, the track weaves urgent storytelling into powerful, soaring instrumentation.
But it’s what lies beneath the music that truly matters.
🎵 A Protest in Melody: Music as Environmental Activism
“The Sea” gives voice to those who cannot speak. Inspired by the shocking and often-hidden practices in Taiji — where thousands of dolphins are trapped, sold to marine parks, or killed annually — the song was created in solidarity with global efforts to end dolphin hunting for good.
The team behind the track worked in alignment with the Oceanic Preservation Society (OPS) — the organization that created the Oscar-winning documentary The Cove, which brought international attention to the brutality in Taiji. By partnering with OPS and spreading awareness through art, Richtaste and Sunset Recordings are helping amplify the call for change.
“Music is one of the few mediums that can cut through apathy and awaken empathy,” says a spokesperson at Sunset. “The Sea is our way of screaming without violence — of showing beauty and grief side by side, and inspiring people to act.”
🌍 Take Action: Support the Fight for Marine Life
We want to thank everyone who has tirelessly fought to end dolphin hunting — whether you’re on the front lines, raising awareness online, or simply choosing to listen and share.
And if you’ve participated in any way in supporting or promoting “The Sea” — or the mission it stands for — we want to recognize you. Please reach out to artistdevelopment@sunsetrecordings.com to be credited. We’ll update credits immediately and with gratitude.
