Maren Morris latest headliner for Musikfest 2023

Record-breaking country star Maren Morris is the latest headliner to be announced for 2023 Musikfest, ArtsQuest said in a news release.

Comic Gabriel” Fluffy” Iglesias was also announced Monday as a headliner. His show is scheduled for Aug. 10 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage.

Morris, whose third album, “Humble Quest,” has been nominated for Album of the Year at this year’s CMA Awards, will perform Aug. 12 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage.

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, will play the Wind Creek Steel Stage during Musikfest on Aug. 10.

Member ticket access begins Tuesday at 10 a.m., with remaining tickets on sale to the public at musikfest.org beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.

Morris, known for her vocal stylings and songwriting chops, debuted at number two on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, broke the record for most first day and first week streams globally on Amazon Music for a country album by a female artist and broke Amazon Music’s record for most streams for a country song debut by a female artist for the song, “Circles Around This Town,” according to a news release from ArtsQuest.

Her triple Platinum single “The Bones” topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 19 consecutive weeks. She became the first solo female multi-week number one on country radio since 2012 and earned Maren Song of the Year and Female Artist of the Year at the ACM Awards, Female Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the CMA Awards, Female Artist of the year and Music Event of the Year at the ACM Awards and Grammy nomination for Best Country Song.

Her breakout Platinum-certified debut album “HERO,” earned her a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance, New Female Vocalist of the Year at the ACM Awards and New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards. “HERO” features Platinum hits “My Church,” “80s Mercedes” and “I Could Use a Love Song.” Morris’s sophomore album, “GIRL” was named Album of the Year at the 2019 CMA Awards. In 2020 Maren and her husband Ryan Hurd were nominated for a Grammy and two CMA Awards for their #1, Platinum-certified first official duet “Chasing After You.”

Iglesias, the youngest of six children, was raised by a single mother in Long Beach, Calif. As the baby of the family, he developed his strong sense of humor to deal with the challenges he faced. Iglesias’s comedic storytelling style mixes parodies, characters and sound effects that bring his personal experiences to life onstage, according to the ArtsQuest news release.

Iglesias stars and produces “Mr. Iglesias,” a Netflix comedy series in which he plays a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater teaching gifted, but misfit, children.

In 2020, the show won best Primetime Comedy at The Imagen Awards, which recognizes positive portrayals of Latinx actors/actresses in the entertainment industry.

Iglesias also worked with Netflix to release two comedy specials, “One Show Fits All,” in 2019 and a second scheduled to premiere later this year. He’s one of a few comedians to have a theatrically released stand-up concert comedy film, “The Fluffy Movie” and has been featured in the Magic Mike films, “A Haunted House 2″ and in voice form for “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” “Coco,” “Ugly Dolls,” “The Star” and “Ferdinand.”

The 11-day festival will be held Aug. 4-13 with music at 16 venues throughout Bethlehem.

Previously announced headline shows include Goo Goo Dolls on Aug. 9., country duo Dan + Shay Aug. 6. and indie-pop trio AJR Friday, Aug. 4. For more info: musikfest.org.
