Lynchburg Wine & Music Festival draws crowd despite weather

Intermittent rain in the mid-afternoon on Saturday could not keep Lynchburg wine lovers from enjoying the 12th annual Lynchburg Wine & Music Festival in downtown’s Riverfront Park.

The festival, originally scheduled for earlier in the day, was pushed to the afternoon and evening as rain passed through Central Virginia for much of the early hours of Saturday.

More than 10 wine, cider and spirits vendors from across the Commonwealth posted up under gray skies just off Jefferson Street, while attendees slipped in and out of rain ponchos for the first couple of hours of the festival.

There was something for everybody in Riverfront Park on Saturday, as several food trucks lined the edge of the park with options including barbecue, kettle corn and even lobster rolls.

Local business, such as Holy Heaven Cookie Co., Pap’s Cigars, Happy Bees Apiary and many others set up shop in the park as well, keeping festival goers busy throughout musical performances.
