“Bad Decisions” finds BTS’ Jin, V, Jung Kook and Jimin showing off their vocal talents and seeing what trouble they can get up to, as Snoop Dogg provides an assist in his signature laid back flow.

Placing second on the past week’s tally with almost 20% of the vote was Harris’ new album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, the follow-up to 2017’s Vol. 1. Much like the first installment, Vol. 2 pulls out all the stops and delivers a star-studded lineup, including “Potion” with Dua Lipa and Young Thug, followed by “Stay With Me” featuring Justin Timberlake, Halsey and Pharrell.

Harris’ latest project also sees unique pairings in Charlie Puth and rising dancehall star Shenseea on “Obsessed,” along with Busta Rhymes attacking the beat solo on “Ready or Not.”

No conclusive probe into case against Ashutosh, 5 cops to face music

Five Delhi Police personnel including three former SHOs and two Sub-Inspectors could be facing disciplinary action for not conducting a conclusive investigation in a case lodged against former AAP leader Ashutosh, and also for keeping the case file “unnecessarily pending” with them.

On May 7, 2018, a case was lodged at Begumpur Police Station against then AAP leader Ashutosh under Sections 292 and 293 of the IPC following the court’s direction.

Ashutosh had allegedly made remarks about Mahatma Gandhi in support of then AAP minister Sandeep Kumar who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman to help her in getting a ration card.

But even after the passing of four years, no action was taken while the investigation officer of the case kept changing.

Pranav Tayal, DCP Rohini, has now stated in a report accessed by IANS that no conclusive actions was taken by the previous investigation officials.

The police officer “admitted” in the report that lapses were found on the part of Sub-Inspector Adesh Kumar and Inspector Sandeep, who was then Sub-Inspector. The report which was prepared by an ACP-level officer also reads that the lapses were found on the part of then three SHOs — Ram Swaroop Meena, Arvind Kumar and Jai Baghwan.

An FIR was filed and investigation was taken up but no conclusive investigation has been conducted by the five investigation officials.

“SI Sandeep and Adesh Kumar kept the case file unnecessarily pending with them and did not conclude the investigation of the instant case. Misconduct report of Sandeep has been sent to Outer District, for taking disciplinary action against him. Further, a show cause notice for censure has been issued to Inspector Aadesh Kumar, for his lapse,” read the letter of DCP Tayal.

The report prepared by an ACP reads that the three former SHOs of Begampur did not supervise the investigation of the case properly.

The misconduct reports of Inspectors Meena, and Bhagwan, have been sent to the DCP/Outer-North and DCP/Crime, respectively, for taking disciplinary action against them, for their above lapse, being their present disciplinary authorities. The DCP Rohini has now asked the ACP Begampur to speed up the investigation to file the status report.

Advocate Pradeep Khatri, the counsel of complainant Yogender Singh said that he wanted to get this matter investigate properly and the accused should be brought to justice.

“Justice delayed is justice denied. Despite having the court directions we don’t know the reasons behind the police not investigating it in a proper manner,” Khatri said.

Fitbit will soon no longer let you transfer music from your PC

If you’re the owner of a Fitbit Versa, Versa 2, or Ionic, you’ll soon no longer be able to transfer music from your computer to your Fitbit device.

Fitbit will soon no longer let you transfer music from your PC

In a support page spotted by 9to5Google, Fitbit says it’s discontinuing its Fitbit Connect app on October 13th, leaving you with only two ways to download music to your device: a paid subscription to either Pandora or Deezer. Fitbit Connect is a companion app for Mac and Windows computers that lets you sync fitness data between devices and transfer music to legacy Fitbit devices. Fitbit has slowly been phasing out the software in favor of its mobile app, as it no longer recommends that users download it on its setup page. But without access to Connect, there’s no way to download music to your pc Fitbit without a paid subscription to either Pandora or Deezer. On its support page, Fitbit says “you may be eligible for a 90-day trial” of either service, which will run you $9.99 / month for Deezer Premium or $4.99 / month for Pandora Plus once the trial’s over.

This change doesn’t affect newer Fitbit models, however, as they don’t come with the option to transfer files between your PC and Fitbit device (devices like the Versa 3 and Sense already only let you download music through Deezer or Pandora). If you own an older Fitbit that has the ability to store music, you’ll still get access to the music files you have on your Fitbit device right now — you just won’t be able to download any additional songs without Pandora or Deezer past the October deadline. Many users use their Fitbit devices to control the music they’re playing on their smartphone, whether they’re streaming music through Spotify or listening to songs already downloaded on their phone. But still, having access to local music files can come in handy if you’re listening to music offline or want to use your Fitbit without your smartphone. While Fitbit doesn’t explain why it’s getting rid of Fitbit Connect, it’s possible that there just isn’t enough demand to keep the service up and running. Google (Fitbit’s parent company) didn’t immediately respond to The Verge’s request for comment.

In the second ever race on the Nashville street circuit, IndyCar drivers will take to the streets that stretches through certain parts of the Music City, including by the Korean War Memorial and the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, Nissan Stadium. The first event last season saw Sweden’s Marcus Ericsson take the checkered flag in the over two-mile course, though Colton Herta set the course record with a time of 1:16.306 last year.

Ericsson would love to win another race in Nashville, mainly because for the first time in weeks, he is not at the top of driver’s points. After a disappointing 11th-place finish at Indy last Saturday, he was passed by veteran Will Power, who ended up in third, for the lead for the championship. Power’s run as of late has helped set him up for his second series title, first since 2014.

However, not too far behind in third in points is Josef Newgarden. Less than a week removed from collapsing after his wreck at Iowa, the two-time champion put together a courageous fifth-place finish, keeping him 32 points behind Power coming into Sunday afternoon.

How Justin Blau’s Web3 Startup Is Trying to Disrupt the Music Industry

  • Justin Blau, also known as DJ 3LAU, is the cofounder and CEO of Web3 startup Royal.
  • The platform allows fans to buy tokenized royalties of their favorite artists’ songs or albums.
  • Out of the $42 billion in annual revenue generated by the music industry, 12% goes to artists.

In his high school yearbook, Justin Blau’s senior quote was to one day “revolutionize the music business.”

From the outside, Blau’s career has taken several unexpected turns: Credit Suisse intern, EDM artist, and, as of last year, the cofounder of a Web3 startup backed by venture giants like Andreessen Horowitz. But the long-time DJ and producer told Insider that music “was always a part of the plan.”

The Las Vegas, Nevada native grew up the son of a hedge fund manager, who previously dreamed of working at Goldman Sachs. While enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis as a finance major, he landed internships at both Credit Suisse and UBS.

Blau, better known by his stage name 3LAU, picked up music and began performing while trying to get his foot in the door on Wall Street. “I showed up at Credit Suisse and two interns had my song on their iPod,” Blau told Insider in 2012. “Back then, that was awesome.”

But he soon declined offers from major financial firms like BlackRock and dropped out of college to pursue music full time. The mashup artist, whose work quickly went viral, began playing at major festivals like Lollapalooza and Electriz Zoo, along with producing remixes for Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Katy Perry. In 2016, he launched an independent music label called Blume Records.

“It became central to my life sooner than I expected. I thought I’d first go into finance to make enough money to retire in a forest somewhere and make cool music,” Blau said. “But the internet, social media, and the rise of dance music all really took off at the same time I started producing. DJ’ing college shows quickly transitioned into playing festivals and a full-time music career.”

Justin Blau’s dive into Web3

In 2017, Ethereum piqued Blau’s interest after reading blog posts and thinking about what ownership on-chain could look like. These included NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, in contexts like ticketing to concerts. In 2018, he later put on the first blockchain-powered music festival.

Blau recalls connecting with crypto heavyweights like Gemini’s Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, along with NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway’s Duncan and Griffin Cockfoster, who he cited as early influences of his journey into the nascent space.

After touring for the better part of the last decade, Blau shifted full focus to his new venture, Royal, in 2021. Cofounded with former Opendoor exec JD Ross, Royal is a music rights marketplace that allows fans to purchase tokenized royalties or fractionalized ownership of their favorite artists’ work.

“This could facilitate a change that I’ve been waiting to see for most of my career as an independent artist,” Blau said. “We have a lot of work to do. It’s really heads down. I’m focused on myself and my team, making sure that this technology enables everything we want it to do.”

In November, Royal announced a $55 million Series A, with backing from Andreessen Horowitz’s crypto arm. Other participants in the round include Paradigm, Coinbase Ventures, along with artists like Nas and The Chainsmokers.

Blau is quick to separate what Royal is doing from the category “music NFTs,” however, adding that his startup offers LDAs, or “limited digital assets” for fans eager to back creators. Over 10,000 collectors have invested more than $1.5 million in music rights on the platform, per data from Royal.

Disrupting the music industry

NFTs are basically, per Blau, a certificate of authenticity on the blockchain. On-chain tokenized assets can lend something to the music industry that it doesn’t currently have, an artist-to-fan monetization pipeline.

“Music NFTs are maybe a more simple way that Twitter is referring to the intersection of Web3 and music,” Blau said.

Out of the $42 billion in annual revenue generated by the music industry 12% goes to artists, per a report from startup Audius. Additional data indicates that 90% of streams from major platforms like Apple Music and Spotify go to the top 1% of artists, Rolling Stone reported.

Royal’s Blau and Ross are trying to disrupt this by making music royalties a more accessible asset.  Last week, the startup announced that token collectors will earn $36,000 in royalties across four songs in their first round of pay-outs to fans.

“It’s very rare that fans actually have any ownership in music whatsoever,” Blau said. “The idea that you can own a piece of a song and get paid alongside your favorite artists was something that was always exciting to me and the fact that we made it work last week is quite incredible.”

He added: “We started the company 14 months ago so all of this stuff takes time like new technologies do. I would say we’re really in the dial-up internet era of what blockchains are capable of.”
