Star violinist James Ehnes featured in Tsawwassen

The Vancouver Chamber Music Society’s season finale features Grammy, Gramaphone and Juno Award winning James Ehnes on Monday, May 30 at the South Delta Baptist Church.

He will be performing well-known piano trios by Tchaikovsky and Dvorak alongside Bion Tsang and Adam Neiman for this 7:30 p.m. show.

Gifted with a rare combination of stunning virtuosity, serene lyricism and an unfaltering musicality, Ehnes has firmly established himself as one of the most sought-after artists on the international stage.

Ehnes is a favourite guest of many of the world’s most respected conductors including Ashkenazy, Alsop, Sir Andrew Davis, Denève, Elder, Ivan Fischer, Gardner, Paavo Järvi, Mena, Noseda, Robertson and Runnicles. Ehnes’s long list of orchestras includes, amongst others, the Boston, Chicago, London, NHK and Vienna Symphony Orchestras, the Los Angeles, New York, Munich and Czech Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Cleveland, Philadelphia, Philharmonia and DSO Berlin orchestras.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and in 2010 was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada.

Tsang has been internationally recognized as one of the outstanding instrumentalists of his generation. At age 11, he made his professional debut with Zubin Mehta and the New York Philharmonic. He’s been featured on America Online as CultureFinder’s “Star Find of the Week,” on the Internet Cello Society as “Artist of the Month,” and most recently in print in the book 21st-Century Cellists.

Neiman has been universally acclaimed as a thought-provoking, charismatic, and highly virtuosic performer. He is hailed as one of today’s preeminent American classical pianists. Neiman’s reputation as a chamber musician is supported by his history as a founding member of the Corinthian Trio and a member of Trio Solisti with whom he capped his tenure with a performance of the complete chamber music of Brahms at Carnegie Hall.

Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for students available online at: https://www.vancouverchambermusic.com/ehnes-tsang-neiman or by phone at 604-359-9738.
