Pune: French cellist, pianist to bring back Romantic Era music at Mazda Hall | Pune News

PUNE: French artists Henri Demarquette and Jean-Frederic Neuburger will perform at a concert organised by The Poona Music Society in association with Alliance Francaise de Pune at Mazda Hall on Tuesday. The event is free and open for all.
“This will be a concert of the Romantic Era music played by renowned musicians. The cello is an instrument that most resembles the human voice, so the instrumental music will have a singing quality,” Jehangir Batiwala, honorary secretary of PMS, said.
Known for expansive symphonies, virtuosic piano music, dramatic operas, and passionate songs inspired by art and literature, compositions from the Romantic Era are laced with intense energy and passion, he added.
Demarquette is one of the few artists who plays a Goffredo Cappa cello from 1700. The classical cellist also teaches at Ecole Normale de Musique Cortot, a leading conservatoire in Paris and has performed with Orchestre National de France, London Philharmonic, Weiner Kammer Orchester, Ensemble Orchestral De Paris and others before co-founding a string quartet with violinist Augustin Dumay, Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Roussev, and Franco-Swiss musician Miguel da Silva in 2015.
Renowned concert pianist Neuburger has also performed with New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony and others.
