New music and event venue opening on waterfront in Jeffersonville

A new music venue is opening along the Waterfront in Jeffersonville on Riverside Drive. The Jefferson is taking over the former Rocky’s Italian Grill which closed in April of 2018. It’s located at the base of the 2nd Street bridge with a view of Louisville from the other side of the river. The building has been turned into a venue for live music and for hosting weddings and corporate and special events. This will be the fifth venue owned or booked/managed by Seven Four Events located in the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio region. The general manager of Upland Jeffersonville says the revamped location is bringing new life to the area.“I think that it will be full of concerts. It’s going to fill the area with more people just kind of revitalize the river just like we kind of want to do,” said Mike O’Donnell, “I’m excited to be able to see some shows and stuff and also on the professional side, it’s going to bring some people down to the river area and just be an influx on business for us here.”Hundreds of customers at The Jefferson will be able to enjoy music inside the venue or unwind outside on their deck and patio. Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore says it’s going to bring an economic boost to the city.“We want people to come in who haven’t been here before. This is one more venue that’s going to draw people in. It’s great for tourists. It’s great for our economy,” said Mayor Moore, “The Jefferson is going to be something year-round and again you’re looking over the skyline of Louisville when you’re out there on an outdoor stage. You’ve got the bell of Louisville going by. It’s just a cool place to be.”There will be a soft opening on Thursday. The first ticketed event is Saturday.
