Manchester band Pale Waves’ have released their new album, Unwanted. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about Unwanted, which was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Zakk Cervini, frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie says, “The album dives into feelings that I felt not only needed to be written but I felt like our fans want to hear.

“Almost everyone has felt like they don’t belong or has been made to feel like they’re not good enough.

“That’s a consistent theme that I’m seeing from our fans – that their family doesn’t approve of them, or their friends have disowned them because they’ve come out. So Unwanted had to be honest, provocative, and loud. Not only thematically, but in the music as well.”

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Charlie loves sushi. Ciara loves the bass. Hugo loves cats.

How would you describe your music?

A mix of alternative, rock, and pop.

Who are your musical inspirations?

We love so many artists! Some of our favourites are Taylor swift, John Mayer, Sky Ferreira, and Paramore!

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Heather: My first ever show I went to was Avril Lavigne it was truly amazing! I saw her in Manchester.

What was the first record you ever bought?

I’m going to seem like the biggest Avril fan but the first ever record I bought was also Avril’s Let Go album!

What’s your favourite song right now?

I’m currently loving Crash Into Me, by Dave Matthews Band.

Favourite lyric of all time?

That’s such a tough question cos there’s so many great lyrics out there but I love the lyric, “I quit my dreaming the moment that I found you” by Angel Olsen.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mr Brightside – The Killers.
