The Federal Moguls first studio release,
High Risk Investment Planning, is set to be released on
Tuesday, and young listeners will be very impressed with
the entire CD. The album contains 17 (plus a hidden 18th
track) tracks that show off a complete diversity of
music styles. High Risk Investment Planning will take
listeners in so many new musical directions, with a
quirky style of music similar to artists such as Ween.
The Federal Moguls will release its High Risk Investment
Planning CD through Sunset Records.
The timely marketing campaign presents
them as a uniquely modern band with a dash of hip-hop,
they go onto to say the Federal Moguls are here to
represent for all home owning upper middle class college
graduates building their financial portfolios. They do
not promote them as musicians today, the Federal Moguls
are made up of Branch Manager, Q-Ball (DJ for Multi
Platinum act The Bloodhound Gang), and Shift Supervisor
Troy Walsh (MTV.com, Mr. Unlikely) whom work alongside
the Senior Sales Associate, J. J. Sinatra and the
Resources and Development, Dave Vegas.
The eclectic songs vary in length and
style. The song "Furious" is a poppy hip hop styled
track containing lyrics how they not only hate, "Kelly
Clarkson (True), TC (He’s just trying to feed his
family), finding a can with only one Pringle" they go
onto hate “blue balls and even Q-Ball!” The entire song
plays with today’s pop culture in so many fun ways.
Other songs on the CD are reminiscent of
you would hear ion dance clubs all over the world. And,
then we have Vicarious being worked toward the modern
rock radio format. “This is a crazy album” says Don
Lichterman, the head of Sunset Records about the High
Risk Investment Planning CD. Lichterman says that “the
entire CD tells a story from beginning to end but what
is crazy ids that when Q-Ball and Troy (Walsh) made the
CD this year, it was not written in this chronological
way. In the end, they put it together after having the
songs building what is a perfect story.
The album starts off with a velvet lounge
jazz sounding intro that moves along swiftly, moving
from track to track almost feeling like there are no
gaps in between any of the songs. The Federal Moguls
sincerely has what they describe as a unique sound, and
High Risk Investment Planning is the perfect complement
to their way of making eclectic music. The album will be
released in every format for digital distribution at the
top retail outlets like iTunes, REAL/Rhapsody, eMusic,
Napster and the physical CD is available now exclusively
at Target and Amazon with CD Universe, Barnes and Noble,
Borders filling stores with the CD.
The Federal Moguls debut CD does stay true to its
members grass roots by featuring upbeat melodies with
real life lyrics coupled with an amazing rap. The album
is being worked to a few formats on the radio and direct
to the college market in the world. "Head Over Heels”
and Touch The Light” are now getting top 200 play on all
the DJ Pool Indy Charts, and Lichterman expects the
songs to break top 50 by January next year. “Furious” is
another single that shows that quirky sarcasm in the
first music video by the band. And, then if that is not
eclectic enough for one artist, “Vicarious” has been
picked to be featured on the Relix Magazine CD Sampler
for Feb/March. Don Lichterman points out that “it will
be the issue with Phish on the cover about their return
to playing live shows next year. I expect there to be
more than usual newsstand buys along with its
distribution to its in excess of 100,000 subscribers.”
The Federal Moguls were also featured at CMJ.com this
month.
The Federal Moguls is indeed a unique and a quirky band
that should never fails to entertain its new fan base.
Lyricist, Producer and DJ Q-Ball, is the DJ for the
multi platinum act, the Bloodhound Gang. Lyricist,
guitarist and rapper Troy Walsh is known for his w3ork
on MTV.com and as Mr. Unlikely artist. The High Risk
Investment Planning CD is an upbeat, buoyant and
cheerful album that is just the thing for that
intellectual crowd. The album will do very well in the
college market next year with an eye towards marketing
at the music fan that has an open mind. The Federal
Moguls are currently setting up a tour for March 2009.
New York,
December 5th, 2008 — Sunset Urban Records, a division of
Sunset Records to distribute Gina Thompson’s next album
Missing You, slated for release in early 2009. Gina
Thompson’s new release on Sunset Urban is a follow-up to
her previous critically-acclaimed albums on Mercury and
Elektra Records. The extended Long Play CD is filled
with music produced by Rod Millwood (Kevin Hart, L.
Myers). The first single is already been the #1 song on
the Music Choice Channel.
Sunset records set to release the
Federal Moguls CD. The Federal Moguls will release its
High Risk Investment Planning CD through Sunset Records.
Uniquely modern with a dash of hip-hop, the Federal
Moguls are here to represent for all home owning upper
middle class college graduates building their financial
portfolios. Federal Moguls Branch Manager, Q-Ball (DJ
for Multi Platinum act The Bloodhound Gang), and Shift
Supervisor Troy Walsh (MTV.com, Mr. Unlikely), work
alongside the Senior Sales Associate, J. J. Sinatra and
the Resources and Development, Dave Vegas.
Gina
Thompson’s Missing You feature production by the
powerhouse producer and club owner, Rod Millwood. The
Federal Moguls CD is a full length 17 song CD produced
by Q-Ball. Both projects are expected to do very well on
the clubs charts and with DJ Record Pools.
This
thrilling news comes just as the Thompson hit single,
“We Don’t Talk No More (featuring L. Myers)” is the
number one song on the Music Choice channel. Thompson’s
debut album (Mercury/PolyGram) and her sophomore title,
If You Only Knew (Elektra), continue to sell and make a
strong statement for contemporary female hiphop
vocalists making music today. Some of the more up to
date impressive milestones accomplished with Gina
Thompson include a number one (1) single played on the
Music Choice Channel. And, that single is now being
worked to clubs and DJ pools all over the world with the
Missing You extend Long Play CD to be made available at
the top retail outlets in the world (Amazon, Target, CD
Universe, Borders, etc.). The album Missing You, should
receive rave reviews for its unique versions of the hit
song, “We Don’t Talk No More,” coupled with two new
songs on this very special CD.
Don
Lichterman says that “working with Rod Millwood is one
of the best moves I have made at Sunset! He is so opened
to working cool concepts and his Laff House Comedy Club,
Kevin Hart and Mark Simmons CDs are the top selling
artists at Sunset. Everything he produces for Sunset is
at the highest level. And, Missing You is an integral
album for the Sunset Urban Record label.” Sunset Urban
will again spearhead the distribution, marketing and
promotion effort for the music produced by (Rod)
Millwood.
(Don)
Lichterman then says the “Federal Moguls are another key
signing for the main Sunset label. Troy Walsh (MTV.com,
Mr. Unlikely) is one of the most talented musicians
around today. Everything he does it at a top level. And,
Q-Ball (Bloodhound Gang) is one of the most talented
producers and DJs in the world. Those guys working
together create some of the best music I have heard in a
long time. They not only work well musically and it
shows in this CD, they are so diverse, unique and yet
confined in the perfect way.
Missing
You will be Gina Thompson’s third album. Gina Thompson’s
previous albums sold over a million records worldwide.
These successful albums and singles include producers
Rodney Jerkins, Sean “P-Diddy”“ Puffy” Combs and now
Rod Millwood put his touch on the latest Thompson
music. Some of her notable singles include "The Things
That You Do," (featuring producer Missy Elliott),
Elliot reappears on If You Only Knew's "Ya Di Ya,"
and the album also features guest performances from
Beanie Sigel and
Jon B. From slinky, seductive songs like "Don't Take
Your Love Away" and "Caught Up" to attitude packed
tracks like "You Can't Play Me," If You Only Knew
showcases Thompson's versatility as a singer, songwriter
and co-producer.
In a
notice released by Federal Moguls agent, Q-Ball, his
advice is always based on everyone’s personal objectives
or financial situation and is on a case by case basis.
There are also never any specific fees or revenues given
to the Federal Moguls company. There are many reasons
for everyone to become an investor. It may be time to
save for the overseas holiday for the family, the down
payment on your next home, your child’s future education
or to get that nest egg for retirement.
“I am now
looking to do more of these key signings at allof the
other Sunset labels,” says the head of Sunset, Don
Lichterman.
The Sunset Records licensing and
publishing company, Sunset Music Publishing announces
new strategic partnerships for companies to work its
catalog of recorded music.
Sunset Records announces a series of
licensing deals with music licensing companies
MTV.Soundtracks, Audiosocket, Crucial Music, Carlson
Entertainment, RumbleFish, Gray V., Synchup, Songs With Vision, Pump Audio, Ricall / Pure Play Music, HD
Music Now and with The Music Network for the content to
be included in their new digital music licensing service
and Advertising Network. Sunset is a premier Indy labels
that has managed to sign music over the last year and
half, that cater to every style and format needed for
placement in a film, TV and Ad.
All of these companies now have full
access of the tracks from a vast music catalogue, with
the opportunity to license these songs to film,
television, and advertising companies in need of music.
Don Lichterman, the head of the Sunset Music Publishing
Company set his label group up with labels from all
genres for this ability to license his catalog out to
film, TV and Ad Companies. “We have a catalog of
recorded music to work that is now spread out over six
(6) different labels with every style, genre and
format,” says Lichterman about his Sunset label group,
“which is appealing to production companies.” Lichterman
adds that he also has “the ability to work well within
every budget.”
Sunset has been setting these companies
up with its’ entire catalog of music over the last
month. The label is also not stopping at these deals. Lichterman
says they are now looking into deals to get the catalog
out to more of these types of licensing companies. “We
are now looking into working with other companies in
this same way.” Companies like Telepictures Music, DMX,
Pravda Music, Konsonant, LaLa Music are all on the label
heads radar and he states that “we also want to get into
the in flight radio programs that I listen to when I use
the airlines to travel.”
Throughout the remainder of this year and
into 2009 Sunset’s catalog of recorded music will be
worked out to these other ancillary markets for the
first time since starting to sign new music. Sunset will
now be marketed directly to top studios, film companies,
advertising agencies and television programs in the hope
of placement of their music. And, with the Music and
Song Catalog Company and its online digital service,
they have a network of top advertisers that have signed
up to be included in that system.
Don Lichterman says, "In the day and age
where everything is built on search engines, it is no
different within the licensing world." “We have Steve
Tilleli and Ric Laue signed to our classical label and
we have Capt. Crunk and Blackwell signed to the Sunset
Urban label. Tropical Records has started to sign new
world music acts to add to the Stondie (Caribbean) and
Cryout (Reggae) roster; we have Sunset Jazz Recordings
for jazz music and Sunset records has the Federal
Moguls, Blackbird, Grayscale, The New Surreal, Richtaste,
TenPenny Joke and Zamza which all have their very own
alternative and pop rock style.” Sunset spread its label
group thin for the purpose of licensing out its catalog
of recorded music.
Sunset Recording Artist, The New Surreal announces a
very special New Years Eve show that will start right at
Midnight!
The singer songwriting pop trio will sings the songs
that have given them critical acclaim and major radio
play over the past few months. Don Lichterman, the head
of Sunset Records confirms that there are no other
concert dates set for 2009 for The New Surreal, although
“we are working on getting some key bookings next year
and we just ended a run of shows at CMJ last month.”
Lichterman continues to say “The guys also did live
radio interviews throughout the east coast during that
run of shows last month; this is the perfect way to
begin the New Year.”
A lengthy tour would not be surprising, since earlier
this year Joel announced that, after filling his touring
commitments for early 1999, he intended to walk away
from extensive touring and from composing popular music.
The New Year's Eve performance is being billed as an
extended showcase of the bands material that will begin
right at Midnight and run past 2AM.
Danny Chait, the lead singer says that the band will be
able to 'include some songs never before performed live,
and some only played once or two times,'' Chait says in
the press release announcing this New Years Eve show.
Don Lichterman says they are also working on deals for
an arrangement to do a live online simulcast of this
very special live performance.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale Monday 11/24, and
prices begin at $25.
This very special New Surreal New Years Eve performance
will take place at the Desmond’s Tavern, located on Park
Avenue South in New York City. Desmond’s is considered
one of New York City's oldest traditional Irish pubs and
a premier destination for live rock music. Recent live
performances include The Black Angels
Last month, according to the Billboard Media Wire, The
New Surreal played a set of live music at the CMJ’s 2009
Music Festival.

Richtaste
Finishes Lights And Shades and Shows Us
Their Best Work With Sunset!
In a press release sent out
by Sunset Records today, Richtaste announces
their new album
“Lights
And Shades,”
their highly anticipated
sophomore album, is set to be in stores
worldwide on September 23.
Richtaste,
the Swiss alternative rock band led by
creative
mastermind and lyrical genius Stefan
Fankhasuer, is now setting up to release
their sophomore album Lights And Shades
(Sunset) on September 23rd. The first single
from the album is "Good Days Are Gone." The
entire CD was produced by Pat Aeby who is
the drummer for the multi platinum Geffen
Recording artist Krokus. The
songs
on the Lights and Sounds CD recount Stefan's
life experiences pursuing a career in music
and growing the bands repertoire for the new
CD.
Richtaste is a band made up
of Stefan Fankhasuer (Vocals & Guitar),
Raphael
(Guitar), Roger (Bass), Marc (Drums) and
Reto (Keyboard). The
new album
shows the growth and ripeness the band has
gained by playing large stages live over the
last year. And, Lights And Shades is
produced by Pat Aeby (Krokus) who elevates
the bands to the top of their game. The
songs are done a high level with lyrics that
are compelling and accessible throughout the
entire CD. Coupled with the proficient
musicianship, Lights And Shades is an
appealing and awesome second CD.
The band's debut self titled
album has received amazing amounts of
critical acclaim by all sorts of media
outlets around the world. The debut CD also
had a great amount of radio play in the
United States due to the label picking up
the CD for the rest of the world outside of
Switzerland and Germany. Sunset Records
released the debut to help set up the Lights
And Shades follow up CD. “We are working
five (5) singles to radio starting this
week,” says Don Lichterman, the head of
Sunset. Lichterman goes on to say that he
“must strategically work this album. One of
the guys is going into the military service
from late October until February of next
year. We are doing key bookings in America
before and after at industry conventions
before doing a Europe tour after he is done
with his service.”
“There was no way I was
waiting until spring to release this music,”
Lichterman says about Lights And Shades. “I
am working two (2) singles this year and
then we will work “Night Of 1,000 Dreams”
and “Superman” hard starting next year. The
new CD was recorded this summer at the
Madhouse by the famous Pat Aeby of Krokus.
Aeby produced the CD with the entire band
and he did the edit with ProTools before
they mastered down the CD at the world
famous G-Studios (Glenn Miller). We are very
lucky to have signed Richtaste, adds
Lichterman, The label plans to continue to
work close with Universal Switzerland which
is the label that originally released the
debut self titled CD last year.
The band, recently just
played the main stage at the sold out
The annual Open-air Etziken
preparing for the Lights And
Shades sophomore title. The group and
producer Pat Aeby spent a lot of time with
over 30 songs to choose these strong 14
tracks for the upcoming release. “This is
really a considered a debut although we did
use the self titled to help introduce the
music to media, radio and retail,” says
Lichterman about bringing the band to the
US. “And then conversely with Lights And
Shades we will work with Universal in
Switzerland to deliver the music.”
After about a year since
starting the main proper labels at Sunset,
Lichterman’s releases are gaining critical
acclaim. The label is seen on the initial
Grammy Nomination Ballot 68 times this year.
Richtaste is on the initial ballot for Best
New Artist, along with five (5) other
categories this year. The Lights And Shades
CD is being worked to Alternative and
College Radio this year. Lichtermans says
that the label is “doing ads in CMJ next
month” and the “Good Days Are Gone” CD is
being featured for a week on CMJ.com in
September.
"When I hear our songs today,
I really feel we could not be better in a
better place today," says singer and
songwriter Stefan Fankhauser. "Our sound has
more eggs (nuts) than before! Our
expectations were not met," admits
Fankhauser and relates to the new support
the band has in place that has opened up
their musical ideas and the production
pieces it all together perfect.” "We were
busy with the production for so much time,
that we already were filled up to the top
with new ideas when releasing" Frankhauser
says with his enticing European accent.
Unapologetically the five now dare to face
also critical issues. Richtaste know that
light and shadow in the real world are as
close together as in the show business.
"Supermen" i.e. simply states that at least
a dozen blue dressed superheroes is needed
to save the planet before the impending
demise. And "Tom Rocket" deals with the
question of what drives a man to spend the
nights slaughtering anything that moves in a
video game using what can be described as
its pseudonym.
It is not out of the blue for
bands to boast about their latest album
release well before it even gets to retail
stores. From the opening track, Rocket Man,
you can hear the high level of confidence.
The pace never slows down with the first
single Good Days Are Gone, the driving dark
foreboding second track, to the outrageously
catchy, Superman and Night Of 1,000 Dreams,
the obvious hit singles waiting in the sings
if there ever were hit songs. Frankhauser
couldn't let the year’s political landscape
go without directing his songs right at the
US government, as he does in Superman. And,
then all the way down to the final few songs
on the CD, the uplifting Night Of 1,000
Dreams and Duke Of WestPoint, gives
Richtaste fans 14 of the strongest
alternative rock and pop songs of the year!.
With Lights And Shades, Richtaste will gain
many new fans in the United States along
with keeping their European fan base excited
about the new CD set for release on
September 23.

song to radio, we also started to work “Lost
But Found” in the record pools to see what
the response is in clubs,” Lichterman says
about the Heartbreak CD.
Not only is Blackwell doing
great at radio around the world, he has also
been written up in many publications online
and in print. The label will continue to
work on getting more key bookings for
Blackwell to –play live and to do special
interviews on TV and radio. Blackwell was
also featured on
The Hip Hop Spotlight Radio Show with DJ
hosts Suga Shan and by
LadyTwist who is very well
known from Egotrip's Miss Rap Supreme on
Vh1’s popular reality show hosted by DJ
Search (3rd Base).

are played on shows on its programs each
week.
MTV licenses in over 1,500
songs for its own program shows each week.
Soundtrack.MTV
is now giving Sunset Records

is just another one of the most viable ways
to have our music heard by avid music fans,”
says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset

Soundtrack.mtv.com –
introduced its new site last month and is
considered the industry's only real time
interactive music guide for TV. The site
showcases everything about music and artists
being played on MTV at any given time. “What
I want to do is encourage the cooperative
spirit of my bands fans to support the Indie
Record label scene,” says Lichterman, and
“my goal is to have everyone heard on MTV in
some way and then in turn out to the
millions of their viewers. “
Soundtrack.mtv.com is a
real-time listing of all the music being
played on every MTV show and every MTV
channel. This includes the short music clips
heard as the soundtrack for such shows as
"The Hills" and "The Real World." The guide
also will keep archives of all songs played
providing those listings by day, show, and
time. The web site function will look ahead
to what songs will be played in the next 24
hours at that time. MTV will also allow
viewers to play 30-second clips of each song
discovered via the guide, as well as link
through to a more robust artist profile
page, where fans can listen to songs in
full, view music videos and see other
details about the act.

The
critically acclaimed debut self titled CD by
Danny Chait and The New Surreal, is set to
hit stores all over the world next month for
Sunset Records.
Not much
about The New
Surreal is what you would expect
musically, starting with the name of the
band which is also the name of the self
titled debut CD released by Sunset Records
being released on August 19th. Coined from
the bizarre or unreal quality associated
with surrealism, indicating a weird
unfamiliar, disturbing and even what could
be dreamlike experiences. Yet the trio’s
album is filled with vocally-driven songs,
with lyrics that make up some of the best
ballads of the year. Further, The New
Surreal is a group after all, headed up by
the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter
Danny Chait.
The first
single on the debut The New Surreal album,
The New Surreal was inspired
by Chait, a very special talented songwriter
and performer — a vocalist that is greatly
suitable for the music on the radio today.
The album is filled with songwriting of a
person that isn’t afraid to speak his mind
in their songs. The New Surreal will perform
their entire new debut CD at the National
Underground in New York City on August 7th.
This very special show will be shown as an
eCast to promote the release of the debut CD
on August 19th. “We also are
planning a very special promotional tour in
late August”, says Don Lichterman, the head
of Sunset Records, “and then we will do a
festivals and music conferences this fall
which will take us through the end of the
year.” Lichterman then states that “this is
a great CD to work.”
“A friend of
the band had been was working with Don (Lichterman)
and we sent him our music a few months ago,”
says Chait, at his house in New York before
their last showcase in Brooklyn, NY last
May. “I had read about the label many
times,” They met at the Sunset Records
offices in New York and hit it off.
Lichterman invited Chait to join the label
that week. The band took the demos back to
their studio to finish the final mix before
mastering the debut CD for Sunset. After
this meeting back in May this year, came the
ten (10) song CD, “The New Surreal.” The New
Surreal’s breakthrough should come this year
with this CD, with the single “We Got Time.”
For
perceptive singer/songwriters such as Danny
Chait, it is easy to show that vulnerability
when he writes his music and songs. With
this debut album, The New Surreal’s front
man and main songwriter exceeds the
sensitive-feeling of earnestness that makes
up the band’s ballads,
We Got Time and
Ease Me. The colorful melodies
and lyrical arrangements are perfect avenues
for Chait's sweet vocals pattern. The band
also evokes a quirky poppiness that is
accessible to young kids and adult music
listeners. There is no doubt this band will
have many hit songs in their career. The
debut self titled CD, The New Surreal proves
that Chait can write and sing pop driven
songs.
Sunset Records is set to
release the debut CD by the Newcastle,
United Kingdom artist, Clayton Road.
Clayton Road is one of those
bands that are hard to categorize today. The
bands overall sound seems to draw that fine
line between roots Americana alternative
style of rock music, to what would be
considered mainstream rock ‘n roll music.
“His (Michael Purvis) songwriting is
excellent” says Don Lichterman who is the
head of Sunset Records, “He/They remind me
of Cracker or Camper Van Beethoven or even
David Lowery when he does his solo stuff.”
Not that Lichterman wants to pigeon hold
them into a specific style of music, “I am
just not sure how to describe the band to
the press” says Lichterman, “I like every
song in its own way. His vox are unique
which I love about his music and I think I
would describe Cracker or Camper in that
same way when I was growing listening to
that music.”
Clayton Road’s “Alright” CD
is conventional and inspires from artists
from many eras. There is an obvious
quirkiness in the music and yet it is hip to
what is going on in every day life. The
Sunset Records debut Clayton Road CD
coalesces the best of early influences of
legendary rock acts such as The Band and The
Grateful Dead; and brings you today’s ‘odd
subject matter coupled with blending the
words of what are day to day slices of life
and even the occasional experiments that
make the songs seem out of place to what the
norm what do with the music.
Singer/guitarist Michael Purvis is mainly
known as the front man of Clayton Road which
he started a few years ago in the Newcastle
area of the United Kingdom. “Maybe that is
what attracted me to Michaels songs,” says
Lichterman, “the fact that they are so
American yet he is from Newcastle of
places.” What you get on this “Alright” CD
being release at Sunset Records on July 29th
is a crazy eclectic CD of rock music with
all kinds of arrangements that work.
The album’s opener, “The
Shape Of Things To Come” is a track that
sounds as if it was recorded to be played at
a European 80s style club. It’s catchy, and
has some challenging lyrics. The same goes
for the more poppy-rocker “Mercury,” which
shows that even the most basic chords with
songs that have hooks can go a long way in
this industry. The catchy “Wrapped Around,”
is a song that has those extra avenues with
hooks at many points in the song. This song
is also the perfect sample of Clayton Road
mixing that Americana style with a driving
rock sound. The single “Man In The Hat” is
another song that will get you in that great
upbeat mood. Their quirky line such as “The
man in the hat says” is right out of a
British comedy movie. The entire CD is
strong because of the guitar sound, the
great hooks and upbeat positive songs. “Long
Time Coming” is a great driving song that
has accessible lyrics. The album continues
with songs that have great guitar drives
which are the case on the song that is also
the album name, “Alright.”
The “Alright” CD is perfectly
fine debut CD for Clayton Road and Michael
Purvis. The entire CD does not have one bad
song, Clayton Road proves today that Purvis’
first project is worth a listen, despite the
fact that you will listen more than one
time. This is an album that is mainstream
rock album that has a traditional sound on
every song. The Americana sounding CD has a
harder drive than every day country and folk
style of music. The Clayton Road “Alright”
CD an album well worth having in your
collection.
Swiss rock band Richtaste has signed with

European countries Universal will continue
to work the CD. It's an easy project for us
to work. We have so many songs for radio and
the production (Patrick Aeby) is sick. There
is an incredible progression from the debut
CD to this new "Lights and Shades CD (which
is great in itself). I am just overly
psyched to be able to work both of their
titles my way"

The New Surreal gears up for debut release with new
record deal!
The New Surreal to release their debut CD by signing
a multi recording deal with Sunset Records
New pop sensation The New Surreal has signed to
Sunset Records and is expected to release their
debut album later this summer on Tuesday, August
19th.
“Signing a record contract with Sunset Records is
truly everything we wanted for the band,” states
Danny Chait of The New Surreal. “We have been
wanting to be a part of Sunset Records since the
main label was announced starting up at this time
last year, and I have been impressed with the new
music signed by Don Lichterman. I am excited and
humbled to be a part of this label group. I’m really
impressed how the label works with new artists."
Don Lichterman, the main A&R person at Sunset and
the chief executive and founder of the Sunset Label
Group, adds, “It only took a few seconds for me to
realize we had something special with these guys.
This band is the quintessential pop act, and has a
gifted singer that can write amazing songs which
will instantly win over huge audiences at radio and
when they play live shows." Continues Lichterman,
"Danny went back to the studio finished the mixes
and then he mastered The New Surreal CD and we
expect to do very well with this music for the last
half of this year; this band gives the label what we
have been trying to find for a couple years. There
is no doubt The New Surreal has a great future ahead
of them in this industry”.
Don Lichterman then comments, “The New Surreal has
already won me over and we have already allowed some
regions of the world to stream their new music. The
response has overwhelming enough for me to add this
to an end of the summer street date. They are a
group of young, talented singer songwriters with
amazing vocals and a sound that currently has wide
appeal and great accessibility on every song on the
CD. We’re over the top thrilled to have them be a
part of the Sunset future and to have joined our
artist roster this week."
The New Surreal are now all three based in New York
City and will work closely with Don Lichterman at
the Sunset Records label with artist development
efforts for the band. The trio consists of Danny
Chait – Guitar and Vocals, Ross Wilson – Bass, and
Nick Smeraski – Drums. The band began when they met
going to school at NYU (New York University).
The self titled CD by The New Surreal will be
released on August 19th. Sunset will start working
the music to radio and to press after the July 4th
holiday. “I am psyched to have something this easy
to work for the rest of the year,” Lichterman says
about the songs on the debut CD. Sunset will work
the music to AAA, AC and CHR / Pop format stations
all over the world. The self titled debut album will
be made available at top retail outlets like Target,

Arlie Patten from Blackbird says from his
Hollywood house in California that he thinks
this is “a great idea that will give us some
marketing and publicity to our fans.” The
humble superstar then says “thank you for
choosing us” and “it is a huge compliment
and privilege to me and the band.” “I really
can't say thanks enough!” One month after
the release of their debut
new studio album, "SONGS FOR THE BROKEN
HEARTED," Blackbird will headline the early
century theatre that had been converted to
this incredible rock club, seats 400, and
audiences around the world will be able to
watch the show live from their home or at
other bars and clubs around the world.
“This event is very special
for me because it takes the live downloads
concept to another level,” says Don
Lichterman, the head of Sunset Records and
Sunset Live Entertainment. “First off, I
grew up on live music,” Lichterman
continues, “whether it was recording live
shows off FM radio and seeing music live,
that is how I started to love music as a
kid.” Lichterman also says that adding live
simulcast to the Sunset Live download
company adds value to live downloads in the
same way DVDs are added value for consumers
compared to CDs. “It’s that same mentality I
have today with David Gans and CD Pulse that
I had with DVDs when I started Sunset.” He
says, “You cannot sell a CD for more than
ten dollars at retail today where as a DVD
can sell for fifteen, twenty or twenty five
bucks” and “it basically costs the same to
manufacturer lines of DVDs as it does to
make CDs.”
It is that added value that
attracted Lichterman to his latest deal with
his Sunset Live Entertainment Company and CD
Pulse. Sunset recording artist Blackbird's
eagerly anticipated debut album, "SONGS FOR
THE BROKEN HEARTED," is available
exclusively at Target and inline at Amazon
today. The album will then be made available
at
Circuit City, Virgin
Megastores, Barnes & Noble and thousands of
independent stores, and then will also be
available this month leading online
retailers including but not limited to
Barnes&Noble.com, TowerRecords.com,
BestBuy.com, CircuitCity.com, Borders.com,
Sonicnet.com, CDuniverse.com, SamGoody.com,
VirginMega.com and ArtistDirect.com.
Blackbird's debut album was
recorded in Fresno, California last year and
includes 10 brand new songs with
“Unstoppable” being added to radio as the
first single for the label. Tickets for the
show at The Broadway Studios are expected to
sell out that evening. The band will play
live throughout the summer months in
California.
Blackwell set to release his follow up CD,
Heartbreak on Sunset Urban Records. The
spirit of Christopher Wallace and Tupac
Shakur was always with Michael Blackwell
with hints of their styles found on his
debut album, Un4givable and their
untimely deaths have always obsessed
Blackwell. Heartbreak is an epic
full length CD, packed from beginning to end
with high level melodic hip hop anthems, but
moreover, is filled with stories of his life
and a feeling of appreciation for the hip
hop greats in music. The opening song of
Where It All Started Pt. 2 does just that
for Blackwell as he introduces the story of
picking up where he left off last time. “I’m
Your Puppet 2008” is another example of this
evolving artist and Don Lichterman, the head
of Sunset Urban and Sunset Records
celebrates the CD in a jovial tone saying
that “we have a very well orchestrated,
colorful and melodic CD to release to radio,
press and retail” this summer.
What's on the CD is that melodic blend of
colorful music production, excellent
harmonies coupled with a gritty
vocal expressing his unwavering and
accessible stories about life. There are
also more blends of obvious posturing for
people's needs for material items, but that
is life. All in all, Heartbreak shows
the journey of people's lives which has
naturally brought music lovers a capricious
mix of great melodic tunes ("Tha Way", "Lost
But Found", "Question Remix") that all boast
guest vocal harmonies (Abigail Tosca,
Crystal Ann, Lil Dynomite) that take you on
a great melodic ride throughout the entire
CD.
The production level is perfect and at a
high level. Don Lichterman has opened up
ways for Blackwell to be able to deliver
some of the most charming and opaque hiphop
beats along with great harmonies that will
most definitely be heard all over top urban
radio stations. Heartbreak is just as
fierce as his debut Un4giveable CD.
Blackwell’s songs on this brand new studio
CD are melodic and perfectly constructed rap
songs. Samples are non existent yet replaced
by the beautiful guest vocalists. One of the
most effective things about Blackwell’s new
CD is the use of his own songs from his
initial CD. “Where It All Started, Pt 2” and
“I’m Your Puppet 2008” are just a few ways
to continue the story of Blackwell.
The lyrics throughout Heartbreak are
concise and consistent to his message from
his initial CD to this new CD. Blackwell has
lived much of the life he raps about on
Heartbreak.
His feelings about life and persecution are
what can actually make you strong in life.
He is not necessarily talking about “gangsta
life” in his raps, he is talking about life
that seems to ring true in any city, town
and in many families. When he and Lil
Dynomite rap "Why’s the government still
depressing us, politicians every day second
guessing us, why the cops gotta be pressing
us, why the hell aint anyone blessing us,
why are the parents abusing us," it’s to
send a message about ways for all walks of
life to grow stronger no matter what’s
happens. In other songs, he talks about
relationships and how it is to use the “L”
word and his friendships while growing up in
his neighborhood.
While Blackwell has a bunch of female guests
on Heartbreak, that really work, his
remarks of praise towards woman are
scattered on the CD – “You gotta keep
giving…keep giving” which is very refreshing
to hear in lyrics on hiphop songs. The
entire CD blends his hardcore vocal rap with
the harmonic sounds of his female vocalists
he has featured on the Heartbreak CD. He
does express his love for family and his
wanting to be in love and in a great
relationship. Much like the sound of 2Pac
and Biggie, Blackwell makes does not hide
about rapping in ambiguous ways. What he
wants to say in his songs, he does it in a
very tactful way.
“What it comes down to today in music is the
substance of an entire album,” says (Don)
Lichterman, “Heartbreak is a one of
those albums you will keep on your iPod
forever if you love this style of music” “A
lot of the newer urban groups rap about
addressing many great issues in life while
still making accessible music to groove
too,” Lichterman continues to say after
being asked about the landscape of music
today. “I just want something not only at a
top level and with color; I also look to see
what is off the normal beaten track no
matter what genre of music we work at
Sunset.”
Blackwell quotes that he is "always working
on music all of the time and I am always
down for adding my vocals and my rhymes with
anyone of these artists that are on this
CD." We are not only left with great
understanding about Blackwell on this
current Heartbreak, CD, this album is
clearly produced by an artist that continues
to develop his great rap in 2008.

Brand new Capt. Crunk CD in
stores May 27th worldwide online
at Amazon.com and in stores at Target
The
upstart Sunset Urban Records readies to add
its second release into the world of urban
hip hop music with Capt. Crunk’s highly
anticipated debut hip hop CD entitled, ‘It’s
A Hell Of A Drug’. The CD will be available
to consumers at top retail outlets such as
Amazon and Target as well at all stores that
sell music downloads (iTunes, Real/Rhapsody,
Napster, Groupie Ringtones (Sprint, Cingular
& Alltel), etc.).
In stores May 27th worldwide,
‘It’s A Hell Of A Drug’ is a very
distinctive hip hop album with evocative
life messages, that boasts the incredible
sounds of Capt. Crunk who is from the Bronx
in New York City. Don Lichterman, the head
of Sunset Records / Sunset Urban says,
“Crunk has an amazing rap and an amazing way
to say what is on his mind throughout the
entire CD.” The new Capt. Crunk CD is being
released just weeks after Sunset’s first
Urban release with D’Cyple’s, “For My
People” CD and just weeks before the new
Paula Perry CD, “Godmommy.”.
Lichterman then says that
“(Ronald) Bullock came to me with Crunk’s
music saying he had the ‘inspiration’ of the
late hip hop and rap icon Tupac Shakur.”
“What I love is the hardcore, down and dirty
feel of the entire CD” , says Lichterman,
crediting the great scouting and production
work of his Sunset Urban A&R staff.
Lichterman continues, "today’s urban
environment is filled with corporate hip hop
artists and music that has no message. This
unfathomable project from Sunset Urban
Records shows the world what is ‘genuine’
and tells the stories of what goes on in the
streets and in the lives of people living in
hip hop community".
New hip Hop performer Capt. Crunk is more
than a rap and hip hop artist. He is a
lyricist whose words sound like an
established poet. Crunk's music also shows
that he is a strong activist; he campaigns
very hard to make sure his listeners will
know the down side of drug abuse. “His
message is very clear and about real life in
the city,” says Ronald C. Bullock, A&R
staffer at Sunset Urban. Bullock goes on to
say that "Crunk has the ability to spread
the message in his rhymes.” The brand new CD
from Sunset Urban Records is distributed by
Sunset’s new distribution arm, Sunset Label
Group Distribution Company. ‘It’s A Hell Of
A Drug is being released to every major
digital download site and to every top
mobile content site starting in mid May and
is being worked to hip hop radio stations
starting this week.
After being asked about his sense of
direction with his music, Crunk makes no
bones about saying “all aspects of my life
are represented on this CD,” - from Crunks
street mentality, to his political beliefs,
to his deep intimate self. A total look at
life is evident from the very beginning of
the CD. “Lost Soulz” is the first song being
worked to hip hop and urban styled radio
formats. The second single is the “Gunz and
Drugz” with “Club Crunk” also being worked
to radio all over the world starting this
month.
“Violence and drugs which
generally lead to incarceration has touched
so many people in the hip hop community and
this CD is not only a hymn for that
lifestyle, it tells many real life stories,”
says Crunk from New York City. It also
emphasizes why lyrics are so important in
the hip hop community. Capt. Crunk has the
real life experiences and the
overall experience of life put down in such
a relevant way on his debut CD with Sunset.
Crunk says that he always wanted to put out
a hip hop album that has many ‘consequential
messages’ about life.
Blackbird's, ‘Songs For The
Broken Hearted’ CD will be in stores all
over the world beginning May 27th.
CD to be sold online at Amazon.com, in
stores exclusively at Target and at all
stores where music downloads are sold.
Southern California’s quirky
popsters Blackbird do not necessarily follow
a trend; they are more interested in simply
playing together as a band and most of all,
being brothers. Their close relationship
to each other has consumed Blackbird and
cemented their bond as a band. And now this
has forged them a place in the alternative
rock world as well. The full length CD is
set to hit stores on May 27th
with radio solicitation starting this month.
Blackbird has become a well
known alternative rock band with a lot of
punk and hardcore influences. Brothers Arlie
Patton (vocals/guitar) and Gabe Patton
(drums/vocals) started playing clubs on the
Sunset strip in Hollywood with two friends
and fellow musicians, Gary Jones
(guitar/vocals) and Michael Nightingale
(bass/vocals). The result is an edgy
alternative rock band with catchy hooks and
great melodies on their debut CD entitled,
‘Songs For The Broken Hearted.’ Both Arlie
and Gabe agree that since the duo was
already playing music as kids, adding two
more was seamless.
Blackbird blends melodic
alternative sounds, inside an eclectic mix
of rock music.
In 2005, Blackbird released
their last full length album “Living Is
Bleeding”, which came after participating on
the New York Dolls Tribute CD, “Jetboys Of
Babylon.” The new “Songs For The Broken
Hearted” CD released by Sunset records has a
different sound from their past albums. The
first single, “Unstoppable” is already
getting airplay in major radio markets
around the world with two other songs “The
Hell You Put Me Through” and “So Lost
Without You” which will also be worked to
alternative and Adult Alternative radio
formats. Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset
Records says that “we are featuring the CD
exclusively at Target and at Amazon” and “we
are also going for key bookings this year”
such as trying to get on the Vans Warped
Tour which begins in June.
Blackbird also got their taste of the
spotlight by performing live on radio
stations and getting press in major markets
in the United States. During their time
before Sunset Records, Blackbird
contributed a performance on a New York
Dolls Tribute CD released by Fastlane
Records. They also contributed to the
Fastlane Cheap Trick Tribute CD, “Trickled
Out”. Blackbird also received accolades
receiving nominations as best rock band and
best rock group in 2007 from the Rock City
News and All Access Magazine.
Blackbird's success does not
stop with award nominations, with press (LA
Weekly CD Review) and at radio (WLFR 91.7
FM, 88.3 WLFC, KOOBA Radio and broke Top 20
on GIANT Radio Network), the first single,
“Unstoppable” is now featured in the comedic
show, “An Ordinary Hero.” Blackbird also has
endorsements with Kerly Strings and Samack /
Greg Bennett Guitars.
The release of this CD has
been greatly anticipated by us at Sunset,”
says Don Lichterman, “the response this
month has been amazing since starting to
work the first song to radio.”

Hip Hop Artist
D’Cyple set to release the For My People CD
on Sunset Urban Records - New music focuses
on life issues touching people of all
genders and sexes.
CD REVIEW FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It’s been a
while since hearing from the amazing hiphop
artist, D'Cyple, and from the sound of the
new CD, he’s ready to take the world by
storm. He is now with Sunset Urban Records [www.SunsetUrban.com],
with a new CD that boasts many singles being
worked to radio. This up and coming artist
is a native of Wisconsin, D’Cyple began his
career at a very young age playing various
musical instruments. He learned how to play
guitar, horns, keyboards, and the drums, and
that talent is very evident on his new CD.
D’Cyple’s first two CDs were also picked up
by Sunset Records and Sunset Urban.
“I’ve been planning and preparing for this
release for a long time,” says D’Cyple in
answer to what he’s been doing since No One
Knows, his last CD release came out a few
years ago. "And, since hanging out with good
friend Ronald Bullock (Head of A&R at Sunset
Urban), knowing that I have people behind my
music is all I can ask for in life,” he
adds. “I’ve been trying to do all of the
necessary personal things that can help me
maintain an existence in music industry,” he
says from his home.
After rhyming
over great beats on his first two CDs,
D’Cyple decided to take it to the next level
on this new release. The CD has brought
together a diverse group of old-school and
new sounding artists, coupled with a
grooving rap that can cross over to top 40.
This CD is pure hip-hop with some jazz
influences. In fact, Jazz purists would say
the overall grooves head deeply toward the
funkier 1970s era of jazz, and hardcore
hip-hop heads will be turned on by the
overall musical attitude. This is one of the
best extensions of a jazz sound with
hardcore hip-hop rap that grooves at times
and has great orchestration.
The first single
being worked to urban radio stations all
over the world is “My Life” with another no
doubt to be hit song, “Don’t Wanna be” as
the second single. Other songs being set up
for radio promotion are “A Hustler” along
with “Home” and “Why I’m Here.” The For My
People full length CD is a montage from the
first song and down to the 17th
song on the CD. Not only with the brand new
CD be available at Target retail stores and
online at Amazon, but Sunset Urban has also
“picked up” the first two D’Cyple CDs, Tha
Album and No One Knows. They will be made
available at all retail stores on April 1st.
Despite the deal
with Sunset this year, D'Cyple's first two
CDs were only released and available on the
internet as a download. “It’s not that
it was a failure to work my music on my own,
but this opportunity that Don Lichterman and
Ronal Bullock have given me is the greatest
of my life,” he states. “People from this
area (Wisconsin) know who I am as an artist,
but that is all that currently makes up my
fan base. This opportunity to have my music
heard on the radio and to have my CDs
available in stores is all I asked for as an
artist.”
“I’m an emcee. I love to rap. There is an
obvious message in the words in my music. My
intention has always been to express myself
and address issues that affect everyone
regardless of race and sex,” states D’Cyple
about his career. “I have seventeen new
songs that I am releasing with Sunset, and
they can be found on the labels artist page
even today (http://www.sunseturban.com/artist/Dcyple.htm).”
One of his new singles ‘My Life’ is being
looked at by film companies and advertising
companies for licensing. “There are obvious
hit songs” says Don Lichterman, head of the
Sunset Group of entertainment companies and
Sunset Holding, Co. “And, we will work this
right at the urban format although I will be
prepared to cross this over to mainstream
pop radio at the drop of a dime,” says
Lichterman
“I love working with Ronald (Bullock) and
being in his hands at the label. I trust
him. He hasn’t led me wrong in the wrong
direction yet,” states D’Cyple on the state
of his music career. “I will continue to do
what I’ve been doing because every CD we
make gets better and better, and I don’t see
my life as anything but have a huge success
with Ronald and Don (Lichterman) leading the
charge.” D’cyple’s CD will be previewed at
the very special Live Concert Showcase
presented by Bullock and Sunset Urban
Records on April 6th in Brooklyn,
NY. That showcase will not only feature a
special listening of the new songs on
D’Cyple’s For My People CD, but
additionally, the showcase will feature live
performances by Paula Perry, Captain Crunk,
Kingsbridge Dee, Blackwell, Lil Dynomite,
the Rican Rebelz with special guest host,
Knowledge.

Starr Cullars Live At B.B.
King Blues Club Available on DVD and
featured as Video Download at Amazon's Unbox
at Alamo Records / Sunset Home Visual
Entertainment (SHE)
With the
House Of Blues thriving and B.B. Kings Club
in Hollywood consistently booking top music
acts, there is no doubt that the music scene
on the Hollywood Sunset strip is alive and
kicking every night of the week. As part of
the resurgence of the Hollywood Strip scene,
a memorable live performance by Starr
Cullars is now being released worldwide on
DVD and as a Video Download.
One could
argue that Starr Cullars is more or less one
of the main players on the strip nowadays
whom can be described simply by using the
words "guitar" and "rock." The home video
shows an enthusiastic group of musicians
playing in a legendary Sunset Strip rock and
roll club. Most astonishing is the blues
rock sound that is an accessible sound, yet
is also some of the more difficult music to
play on a six-string guitar. Starr has great
harmonics with melodies played using
distortion, making up the straight forward
Funk Rock sound with out of this world lead
progressions. When you see the live DVD, you
see a band that can change your mood within
a few minutes of watching the Home Video.
She's never
been fully won over by the simulated
atmosphere of the recording studio (though
she has a new studio CD due in stores in
June), and so she has great fun on stage.
"I'm very pleased to say that the Live at
the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill DVD was a
lot of fun to make last year," says Starr
Cullars from Los Angeles. Cullars goes on to
say that she is "so thankful to Angel Alamo
at Alamo Records and Don Lichterman at
Sunset for making this available at stores
all over the world."
This DVD showcases a great night of music
from the Starr Cullars Band, the same band
that recorded Living Galaxy, the brand new
CD due in stores on June 17th. The recorded
sound for the concert had been "recorded
digitally"- with excellent performances,
songs which span the blues and rock genres
reminiscent to the seventies and what is
currently popular today. The funk" sound of
yesterday coupled with rock sound of today
is what makes this a great Home Video. It is
an indispensable music video for fans and
newcomers alike.
April 8th is the street date for the DVD.
Amazon Unbox will feature the video download
starting April 8th. The video will be
available for rental On-Demand through Unbox.
Kevin Booth’s American Drug
War: The Last White Hope to be released on
DVD May 27th
The new controversial film
AMERICAN DRUG WAR, premiered on Showtime
March 5th, and is creating a storm of
controversy surrounding the content.
Filmmaker Kevin Booth lost his mother to
alcoholism, a friend to nicotine, and a
brother to prescription pills.
The Sustainable Action
Network’s goal is to raise further awareness
about the effects of privately run prison
systems. Don Lichterman, the founder of the
Sustainable Action Network says that “once
prisons became privatized in America, and
started trading on Wall Street every day,
the facts show gross examples that in order
for these prisons to make money every year;
they need to fill their facilities.” The
prisons need to be filled with people in
order create profits and revenues for these
private companies. Lichterman then says that
“Kevin (Booth) spells this out in such an
easy to understand way in his documentary
film that audiences will be captivated.”
There are not enough rapists
and murderers to fill the hundreds of
private prisons located in many states in
the US. The “trickle down” effect is a
natural one considering the main bi-laws of
any corporation is to create revenues for
that company. Since there are only so many
people that commit violent crimes, the
incarceration of non-violent offenders using
drugs becomes an easy target for the
criminal justice system.
The staff at the Barack Obama
campaign has recognized this failure by
answering Booth saying they "will review
drug sentences to see where we can be
smarter on crime and reduce the blind and
counterproductive sentencing of non-violent
offenders." Obama also supports the use of
medical marijuana calling the War on Drugs a
"failure."
This issue is especially
relevant today. During the Bill Clinton
Presidency, millions of people were
incarcerated into the prison system.
Hundreds of private prisons were also built
all over the United States during that span
of time. The documentary film cleverly
allows the former drug czar Barry McCaffrey
to tell that story, who under the Clinton
administration arrested over four million
people for using marijuana. Those
non-violent drug offenders are still in
privately owned, highly profitable prisons
today.
If you want a clear and
concise look at this issue, the Kevin Booth
award winning documentary is the perfect
film. “This documentary needs to be
available for the public to see,” says
Lichterman.
(Kevin) Booth will utilize
(Don) Lichterman’s resources with Sunset
Records (www.SunsetLabelGroup.com)
and the Sunset Home Visual Entertainment
(SHE) (www.SunsetHomeVisual.com)
Distribution system. Sacred Cow is
distributed by the exceptional Indy Film and
Documentary Distribution Company, Passion
River (www.PassionRiver.com).
Currently, the American Drug War film is
playing on Showtime all month and is also
available at Showtime On-Demand.
This current rotation and
future DVD release is coming off the heels
of an unprecedented FOUR (4) consective
festival wins for best Documentary Film.
Filmmaker Kevin Booth spent over four years
seeking the answer to why three of the
closest people in his life, had all died in
ways that made him think about the “War On
Drugs” and whether it is working in the
United States. Booth interviewed world
leaders and activist Ralph Nader,
libertarian Ron Paul, comedian (and non
violent drug offender) Tommy Chong, the
proclaimed originator of crack cocaine Ricky
Ross (from federal Prison), former drug czar
Barry McCaffrey, a former CIA Agent, a State
Senator, County Sheriffs, Top Ranking Police
Officers, lawyers, incarcerated prisoners
and judges that stand on the frontlines of
the war on drugs.
Prison jobs are not limited
to cleaning highways, parks and making
license plates. Many prisons field telephone
calls and some telemarketing is done from
prison facilities in the United States.
Lichterman then asks, “When was the last
time we had people working for other people
for pennies or no money?” Lichterman ends by
saying his ”point is that if you are
purposely filling these facilities with non
violent people just to have them at capacity
every year, and then that same system in
turns has these same people do various work
labor, then that is a failure".
Just as Lichterman was
astounded by finding this out by watching
Booth's documentary, the answers Booth heard
on his journey shocked him over the past few
years. The AMERICAN DRUG WAR: The Last White
Hope examines the longest and costliest so
called war in the U.S. history.
Starring in interviews is
Tommy Chong, Freeway Ricky Ross, Sheriff Joe
Arpaio, Mike Ruppert, General Barry
McCaffrey Celerino Castillo III, Judge James
Gray, T Rodgers, Joe Rogan, Ron Paul, Ralph
Nader , and Jello Biafra. For promotion

Mugzy, Kingsbridge Dee and Channell
Sunset Urban
sets up for 2008 with the releases of brand
new music recorded for the upstart rap and
hip hop label. Paula Perry, known for her
Billboard top ten song released by Motown
Records, will release her debut full length
CD on March 11th. D’Cyple and
Skee will deliver brand new CDs in the 2nd
quarter this year and Sunset Urban is also
releasing their catalog titles next month.
The label is currently working CDs by Mugzy
(The Villain), B.L.O. (Da Ghetto Superstar)
and Blackwell (Un4giveable) and
BlueMountain has L. Myers
currently in stores. Expect debut CDs by
Capt. Crunk,
Kingsbridge Dee and Channell throughout
2008.
Paula Perry,
former Motown Records recording artist, and
Masta Ace Inc. member, releases her highly
anticipated debut full length CD. Dubbed the
queen of the underground by XXL magazine,
Paula has worked with DJ Premier, Easy Mo
Bee, DR Period, Lost Boyz, Brian McKnight,
Kelly Price & Tina Turner.
Her
CD titled “The Godmommy” is due to
hit stores in April.
D’Cyple, from
Wisconsin
has emerged
as one of the most intense MCs hip hop has
heard to date. With comparisons to Tupac
Shakur, D’Cyple has incredible songs that
show his true emotion by featuring deep
lyrics. Yet
his lyrics are also very accessible and
relatable. A true underground veteran, his
first 2 albums, "D'cyple" & "No
One Knows" are available in stores all
over the world. His latest CD "For My
People” will be in stores by the end of
April.
Mugzy’s, The Villain is
available now at all stores that allow
downloads, streams and ringtones. The
Villain will be released in stores next
month. The rough and rugged power of this
album has already garnered great reviews
with many media outlets. The entire CD is
featured throughout all of March at the Sony
Connect music store.
B.L.O, the Bronx NY
native has one of the most authentic debut
albums Urban Music has heard in a long time.
"Da Ghetto SupaStar" is a great mix
of what can be compared to old school Hip
Hop with a great flair to attract brand new
Hip Hop fans. B.L.O is a well respected
veteran in the industry as one of the few
MCs in the underground that appeal to both
mainstream & underground fans. An undeniably
talented lyricist with great versatility
that comes through in every song.
Capt. Crunk, a unique hip
hop superstar, shows its real self with a
brand new CD that takes listeners on a sick
and twisted ride into the mind of this free
spirited artist. His debut album “It’s
A Hell Of A Drug” has a bemused and
frenzied style that shows his outstanding
freestyle rap. Crunk grew up on the streets
in the Bronx and his music will turn heads with its
incredibly
maniacal style.
Skee
is one
of New England’s most prolific MCs that has ever come out of
that area. Skee’s rapid fire, hard hitting
lyrics are loved by a large underground fan
base creating a diehard and loyal group of
followers. His four titles previously
released on his own will be collectively
released on Sunset Urban Records on “Rhyme
Writing : The Evolution ofSkee.” Skee is set to release his
new CD “Fine Line” in the second
quarter this year.
Kingsbridge Dee
is one of the smoothest vocalists to hit the
New York Hip Hop
scene in a long time. The smooth delivery
and melodic flow in his songs are accessible
to his incredible (mostly female) fan base.
His debut album, “The KBD Experience” is set
to be in stores later this year.
Netherlands
native Channell is the beloved Dutch
singer/songwriter that is living a dream by
combining a style that combines R&B and Pop.
Channell’s talent is shown in every song on
her upcoming album due to hit the streets in
May.
L. Myers released the full length Infinity
CD last month. The CD is
an effortless
eloquence and smooth persona of a top Hip
Hop artist. The music of L. Myers has
defined the true meaning of American soul.
Like his hometown godfathers, this Philadelphia native has a
deep voice and unique style that captures
the vibe of vintage Hip Hop music without
sounding old fashioned. On Infinity, that
blend can clearly be heard throughout the
entire CD.
Sunset Urban Records has quickly
emerged as an up and coming fully
serviceable indie record label. Don
Lichterman, the head of the entire Sunset
Label Group started the Urban music division
last year with the help of industry veteran
Rod Millwood along with A&R Exec's Ronald C.
Bullock and Rejean Germain. Sunset Urban
also has
many catalog titles, home video titles and
special markets titles being released this
year.
Sunset Home Visual Entertainment (SHE) will
allow Amazon’s Unbox to release a
download-to-burn version of five (5) new
Reach Around Rodeo Clowns videos, a Tommy
Conwell live performance from 1996 and a
rare Robert Gordon live concert - all
are due out starting late February. The
video downloads will be released on the same
days as the official DVD releases.
Starting February 19th, the Reach
Around Rodeo Clowns will begin to release
brand new home video titles from the band's
archives. Sunset Home Visual Entertainment
(SHE) is releasing these home videos in
consecutive weeks. Robert Gordon and Tommy
Conwell will have live concerts from the
Chameleon Club, recorded in 1996, hitting
stores in early March.
Executive Producer Don Lichterman says his
company will release a Reach Around Rodeo
Clowns live show from CBGB, the world famous
Greenwich Village rock club that closed its
doors last year. The company will then
release live shows of the band from the
Beehive Club and The Chameleon Club. Quentin
Jones, the producer on these projects and
the Clowns band leader says to “expect more
videos this year” from the Lanark Records
vault. These offerings are coming off the
heels of the success of The Clown Remains
The Same that was released by SHE as a Video
Download last year. Jones says “after
getting a ton of requests” for the Clown
Remains The Same to be released on DVD, “Don
(Lichterman) and everyone at Sunset made
that available too on DVD.”
SHE is releasing the home video titles on
DVD at retail stores like Amazon and Target,
and they will release the download-to-burn
version of all the titles priced at $9.99.
The “Burn to DVD” video will also have the
same bonus features offered on the official
DVD version. A "Burn to DVD" movie, as
Amazon Unbox and Apple refer to it, is a
movie that is legally downloaded, can be
burned to a blank DVD and then viewed on a
DVD player. In September of last year,
Amazon announced the download movie service
called Amazon Unbox and Apple announced that
it would be adding videos and movies to the
iTunes store. EZTakes and CinemaNow are two
other companies that offer a movie download
service similar to that of Amazon’s Unbox.
SRG
begins adding staff people to Sunset Urban,
eSunset Records / Sunset's Digital Division
and in the Sunset Holding Corporate Division
this month......
Blackbird,
the power pop rock styled otherwise known as “emo” has
released their 4th studio album
Songs For The
Broken Heartedwith eSunset
Records / Sunset Records Group (SRG). While this
CD is has a very specific fan base, the broad appeal
throughout the ten song debut is for anyone that loves
powerful pop driven rock n roll music.
Songs
For The Broken Hearted
bursts open with its first track “Brightside
Of Things,” which blends perfect with
“Crashing Dow”
and then throughout this ten song CD. The vocals are
pushed to its maximum potential volume and the beat
throughout the CD is where it should be to produce a
great album. Each song are so entertaining they keep you
singing along and stomping your feet. Songs For The
Broken Hearted also packs in the solid ballad “So
Lost Without You,” the potential sleeper song on
this full length CD which is now set to hit retail on
January 29.
Blackbird
originally began playing the Sunset Strip in Hollywood,
California, before expanding its music ventures by
participating in unique projects like
the Tribute to
the New York Dolls release in 2004.
Vocalist/guitarist Arlee Patton along with brother Gabe
Patton, the drummer joined forces with guitarist and
vocalist Gary Jones and Michael Nightingale, the bass
player for the band. They have clearly come a long way
from the tribute album.
The ‘power pop band is loaded with originality and has
offered fans of this genre great music for quite some
time. “Blackbird is one of the final signings of the
year after a brief signing freeze we had at the
company,” says Don Lichterman, the head of eSunset
Records and SRG’s Distributed Group of Labels.
Lichterman goes on to say that “this is a great time to
be a part of Sunset,” as the label group has just
surpassed scanning over 115,000 downloads, streams and
ringtones sold for the first three quarters in 2007.
The band is very optimistic and
excited about being distributed at SRG. Arlie Patton,
the bands main vocalist and guitar player states, “this
is the perfect match for Blackbird” about eSunset / SRG
with “their advanced technology and online distribution
is above and beyond what we expected as a band.” “We are
very excited to be part of the Sunset family” ends
Patton with great excitement when asked about being
distributed at SRG.
SRG, a privately owned Don
Lichterman company, SRG is a fast growing Independent
Record Label and Independent Distribution Company. The
company has four major divisions, the Sunset Records
Group of Distributed labels, the Sunset Strategic
Marketing & Licensing Division, the Sunset-Digital
Distribution Division and the Sunset-Filmed
Entertainment Division. All corporate information and
all information about the Sunset Group of Entertainment
and media Companies are available online at
www.SunsetHolding.com.
The songs flow refreshingly
throughout the entire CD making up an energizing record
from beginning to end.
SRG is
a fully serviceable record company and the band will now
utilize these distribution tools to reach a global
audience.
Embracing
an effortless eloquence and smooth persona of a top Hip
Hop artist, the music of
L. Myers has defined the true meaning of American soul.
Like his hometown godfathers, this Philadelphia native
has a deep voice and unique style that captures the
vibe of vintage Hip Hop music without sounding old
fashion. On his latest disc Infinity, that blend can be
clearly heard throughout the entire CD.
"It's always been a goal of
mine to continue the great tradition of Hip Hop music,"
Myers says. "When I was growing-up it was all about the
Philadelphia International soul men and about the Motown
artists. From the first time I ever stepped into a
recording studio, I knew that I wanted to emulate the
likes of The Roots and Cypress Hill". While Myers may
have some legendary shoes to fill, the longevity in his
career is what he is looking for as a music artist.
Don Lichterman, the head of
Sunset Records and Sunset Urban states that “today, the
music industry has a fast turnaround of acts vying to be
the next best thing or trying to be that next popular
hip hop artist. It's rare to find an artist with
longevity. L. Myers and producer/mixer Rod Millwood have
created strong music on this debut CD". Lichterman
continues that “we had this released originally as an EP
this year and Rod went back in the studio last month to
finish up the final mixes on the full length CD.”
This recording will mark the first release at the newly
created Sunset Urban music division at Sunset’s Records
Group (SRG).
Like
the late Luther Vandross before him, the secret of L.
Myers rhythmic endurance comes down to his ability to
create eternal music. With the release of Infinity, Myers first
disc for his new label Sunset Urban / Blue Mountain
Records, the wonderful hip hop artist could not be more
pleased with the outcome of this CD. “When I heard that
Sunset had been starting an Urban music division, my
first reaction was to get back into the studio to retool
this Infinity CD,” says producer and head of Blue
Mountain Records, Rod Millwood. He approached Lichterman
last month during the implementation of Sunset Urban
this year. “I really wanted something out in 2007 from
this division,” says Lichterman. "I wasn't very happy
with how the division had been started last month,"
Lichterman confesses, “and then it hit me to bring in a
production company with a great track record.”
Lichterman and Millwood have
been working together for about year. The Laff House
Comedy Club and Blue Mountain Records have distribution
deals with eSunset, the digital distribution division at
Sunset Records. Millwood’s production credits include
The Laff House Comedy Club CDs, CDs and DVDs by Mark
Simmons and Kevin Hart. Millwood also has credits for
his production work on Flames by Patti Labelle (1997)
along with his production work on the Butter soundtrack
for HBO and with Peaches Herb. This month, two of
Millwood’s artists are performing at the HBO Comedy
Festival (see news story).
Having penned and completed
about thirty-three new songs before completing this
final CD, Myers was more than ready to release a full
length CD. "Right now, I am excited and enthusiastic to
do what I can do in my new situation with the new
resources created at Blue Mountain and more notably at
Sunset Urban." Without a doubt, the landscape of Hip Hop
music has reached every demographic in today’s
marketplace, but that fact has not hindered Myers
creative process. "It would be a mistake for us to
compete with say Chris Brown and Kanye West this year,"
Lichterman laughs and "Myers material will very much
appeal to everyone from teenagers to older folks like
myself."
It
would have been too easy for Myers to follow the Hip Hop
template of writing about romance. But on Infinity,
the artist in him felt the need to be more revealing
about that part of his life. "As a person that writes my
own music and songs, my goal has to always been to find
new ways to say old things in my songwriting," Myers
says. "It is all about being honest and exploring who I
am as a person before putting those words onto paper.
Like everyone else, I am a much different today than I
was growing up as a kid." The Infinity CD boasts not
only Millwood as the Executive Producers, Mona Wilkerson
and Shawn “The Big Kid” Andrews who is the current
lineman for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles are the
Executive Producers on this CD. Also on the CD
performing is Kevin Hart (Soul Plane, The Big House, I’m
A Grown Little Man), the world famous comedian that is
now the host of MTV’s, Celebrity Rapper Show.
After Hart does his comedic introduction, Infinity's
stellar first single entitled, "All Things Change,"
detours from the usual Hip Hop style while serenading
his vocals in a profound way. Producer Rod Millwood has
constructed the perfect Hip Hop sounding anthem.
The one song with lyrical vigor
and vinegar is "Trouble" which could be the most real
Hip Hop track released on an Indie level. "This might be
the first song dealing with the issue of a man
confronting his experiences in life," Myers states.
"I've never really heard that in a song." Refusing to
sugarcoat his feelings, the title track "Infinity"
manages to say it all about the possibilities in life.
Though Myers has been friends with
comedian, Kevin Hart, he has also known producers and
executive producers Millwood, Andrews and Wilkerson for
many years, this is the first collaboration with all
four of them on one project. "We just worked so well
together," Myers says of Millwood who produced and went
back into remix the entire Infinity full length CD.
Millwood has also done tracks for Kevin Hart, Mark
Simmons, Patti Labelle and Peaches and Herb. "I prefer
working with a producer who know their way around a
console in the studio, and Rod is one of those guys that
can anything in the studio," he says. In addition, the
producer added both an introduction and a CD ending bit
with comedian, Kevin Hart. The CD in between is a
danceable soundscape for the lyrically versed listener.
Using simple words to express complex
feelings is the best way to describe the entire Infinity
CD. Myers proves that not only is he an exceptional
music artist, but his skills as a songwriter is
impeccable in this industry today. "Whenever I start to
write lyrics, I think it's important to be true to your
words," Myers says. "When I started working on the
‘Infinity’ CD, I realized that in my life, I am by far
my own worst enemy. Writing that songs that way on this
album is my way of dealing with life." Myers ends by
saying that “it was just a pleasure having Rod in the
studio. I think the outcome was an amazing CD from
beginning to the end."

new staffers at Sunset will also advise Germain and the
Sunset Chairman, Don Lichterman on strategies related to
Sunset’s urban initiatives.
The label group has now reassigned many
licensed products over to the Sunset Urban catalog.
Those branded titles include the most popular Music

Cent, The Temptations, Deon Cole, The Dells and Mark

NEW YORK, August 31, 2007
– Sunset Records Group (SRG) announced today that it
has formed a record label with Jerome Chambers running
the US operations and music industry veteran Clovis
McFalling, best known for working on the island of
Jamaica on worldwide reggae and dance hall acts. The new
label, called Tropical Records, will take a full-service
approach to supporting and promoting the careers of
musical artists found on the island of Jamaica. The
label will focus on all aspects of the artist’s
development in the same way the distributed labels get
worked at Sunset. SRG will work closely with the
Tropical staff on promoting and distributing Tropical
artists all over the world. And, conversely, the current
Sunset catalog of recorded music and DVD titles will now
be distributed all over the Caribbean region.
Sunset Strategic Marketing (SSM) Division has reassigned
every reggae, latin and world music related title to the
Tropical label. The first artist signed to the label is
the reggae act Cryout who has just concluded a brand new
CD released worldwide this summer. Cryout’s debut album
“Medication
For The Soul”
was released this year too through the eSunset Records
label, the world’s only digital only record company in
the Active Rock radio format. Another group of artists
signed to the Tropical records label is the all star
ensemble of dancehall artists called, Sturgay. This
exclusive live session recording is being released on
October 2 at Sunset-Live and at retail stores that sell
downloads, ringtones and streams through Tropical
Records.
Tropical's goal is to bring wider U.S. exposure to
deserving international artists. "Cryout is a perfect
example of a new artist that will now be heard by a
wider audience," said Don Lichterman, Head of Sunset
Records Group. "He is a perfect new artist to develop
along side the branded licensed material distributed at
SSM by popular music artists like Bob Marley, Beenie
Man, Shaggy, Buju Banton and Ziggy Marley." “It is no
different than the way we work all of the labels in the
Sunset system, with the uniqueness of Tropical being
based in Montego Bay.” Lichterman continues to say “it
is another great niche and another great region to work
our current catalog and will prove to be an amazing A&R
source to find new music.”
In addition to licensing international releases for
domestic distribution, Tropical expects to record new
material as well. Based in the small area of Montego
Bay, Jamaica, Lichterman hired Clovis McFalling as the
main A&R contact. Clovis will report to the Head of
Operations, Jerome Chambers, who is based in the
corporate offices with Lichterman. Chambers and
Lichterman have known each other for over three decades
dating back to grade school.
“As SRG expands its portfolio of repertoire sources
throughout the world, this new venture will provide us
with the perfect resources to find new music all over
this region,” said Jerome Chambers, General Manager,
Tropical Records / Sunset Records. “We will provide an
amazing amount of expertise in working with artists from
this region on all aspects of their careers, and most of
all that includes SRG’s Distribution’s global reach, the
digital distribution reach and our marketing reach.”
As part of the deal, Clovis McFalling will handle all
A&R for the label based in Montego Bay, Jamaica. He will
also head up the majority of the sales, distribution,
marketing and promotional services for artists signed to
the Tropical label. SRG’s Tropical Records is also
providing promotion services for worldwide releases and
will release albums from the venture under license all
over the world.
Tropical’s releases will be distributed by SRG US
independent music umbrella organization. SRG will also
have the opportunity to distribute releases from the
joint venture under license on a worldwide basis.
“It was immediately clear that SRG was excited about
creating a label on the island of Jamaica” says
McFalling from his Montego Bay office. He goes on to say
that “this will extend every consideration to
distributing, developing and breaking artists from this
region in what is a rapidly evolving industry.” “The
artists on Jamaica need a conduit for their music and
SRG has given us the most fair and viable way to get
music heard by people all over the world.”
“We are proud to be a part of the Sunset vision and the
Sunset system.”
The deal is an exciting and powerful combination that
compliments Sunset Records’ mission to develop every
genre of music while embracing the digital distribution
medium,” said Clovis McFalling, the head of Repertoire,
Tropical Records.
The long awaited and anticipated worldwide
release of the debut CD from Grayscale, is
on August 21 and has revealed an upbeat
sound featuring a new delicate touch; a
mixture of captivating melodies and
heartfelt lyrics. With their transition to
Sunset Records, the band's major indie
record label debut, there will be five
singles available to Top forty and Adult
contemporary radio formats.
Grayscale's intangible style is shared with
no other band, having created a colorful,
distinctive and unparalleled sound with
their album, That Flawless Flashing Day.
Through a myriad of songs, the band has
transcended an unequivocal presence in pop
music.
Grayscale front man Douglas Dunbar composed
the debut CD with William Weaver. That
Flawless Flashing Day includes a track
listing of 13 songs that flow coherently
from melodic songs to ballads to resilient
yet solemn love songs.
The album opens with the salient and
superlative track "TMI." Other songs such
as “One More Day” and “Stuck On Me” are
lyrically intimate and melodically driven
tracks, Doug pleads with heart-wrenching
sincerity at every hook and verse. “So
Credulous I’m Blind” is the wonderful ballad
that has some of the most accessible lyrics
on the CD.
"Any Girl Will Do," Grayscale's first single
off the new record, is another vivid track,
infectious and enticing followed by “Deep
White,“ which show off the beautifully
strong vocals. Many of the tracks on this CD
proclaim the feelings of an unwavering love
between two people.
Other spectacular and enlightening tracks
from That Flawless Flashing Day
include "Out In Cold," "A Summer Washed
Away," and "A Matter Of Time."
Grayscale seems to be delving into great
musical territory with this debut CD.
Timeless, catchy yet versatile, this band
has reached an amazing plateau, leaving only
ever-rising greatness in their wake.
Sunset Records, Grayscales record label, is
getting ready for a big push beginning this
summer. Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset
Records says that he “cannot be more proud
of our A&R system. “Sunset opened its doors
two years ago on its anniversary date of
August 6th and in that time, we
have two artists on the Grammy Awards
nomination ballot for Best New Artist.”
Grayscale is on the nomination ballot for
the 50th Grammy Award show for
Best New Artist as well as for Best Duo or
Pop Group with Vocals, Best Alternative
Music Album and Best Traditional Pop Album.
For fans of The Killers and of Blink 182,
this is the perfect CD.
Sunset-Live.com

its' affiliate partnership with Wolfgang’s Vault to host

Vault Radio provides listeners access to over 300 live
concert recordings from the Bill Graham archive, King

Division, Sunset Strategic Marketing distributes the
King Biscuit Flower Hours physical cds.
Russia's soulful trip-hip power pop trio releases debut
CD.
(Billboard
Publicity Wire) June 15, 2007 -- Featuring the
sweet-sounding vocals of Evgenya Strochinskaya as well
as the stylings of keyboardist and producer Max K. and
guitarist Serge Tarakhteyev, the resulting CD is an
alluring and electronically charged album, entitled Turn
To You. The sound lightly treads on a jam band styled
approach and the album is a perfect journey from the
beginning until the final song. The tracks that stand
out are Flyin Away (trip hop melody and gorgeous
vocals), Teddy Bear (catchy and poppy melody, chorus and
a Top 40 Hit Song), Use Your Chance (Electronic and
futuristic with a driving overall sound) and Foxy Lady
(written by Jimi Hendrix and shreds like Trey Anastasio
and Phish).
"The band never seems to repeat themselves which is
evident from their live shows. The production is fresh,
new and very accessible in so many ways. And the fact
that they write a lot will keep this band growing for
many years," Zamza's record label head Don Lichterman
told an egnaged group of Russian journalists when asked
to explain the band.
"Great songwriting. Fantastic guitar playing. Amazing
melodies. Mixed with this futuristic electronic sound"
added Lichterman. The band, most likely due to the
English language barrier, smiles enigmatically
preferring to let their enthusiastic record label head
do the talking on behalf of the CD. The key tracks that
are being worked to Pop/Rock and the electronic formats
are Flyin' Away, Teddy Bear and Foxy Lady starting early
June.
How do you sum up Zamza, a band who seems to defy
categorization and whose main objective over the last
few years is to keep things always fresh and new as a
band? You could invent an entire new genre for their
style of music. "Trip Hop Power Pop", is what Lichterman
calls the overall sound. But even that is probably only
the half the story. There are plans to get the band to
the United States this year. Lichterman goes on to say.
"Zamza's live show is what listeners in the United
States will take to this year."
Club goers love Zamza for the trip-hop dreamscapes of
tracks such as Broken Hearted, and the track that is the
name of the CD, Turn To You, to soothe the nerves after
a night of clubbing.
The younger market has been captivated by the cool down
tempo grooves.
Others have come on board for the more upbeat disco-pop
of Teddy Bear and yet others for the intense jamming
that will liven up the nerves during a night of frenzy
such as Use Your Chance, Something Bout Love and of
course their version of the Hendrix song, Foxy Lady.
Movie directors are drawn to their atmospheric
moodscapes, with Flyin Away appearing in TV Ads
throughout 2007, as well as in online ads, on
soundtracks and in Warren Miller Entertainment Film and
Television Programs coming out in the fall of 2007.
But perhaps above all, Zamza appeal most to those who
simply love good music in whatever appearance it comes
and who admire a band that dares to be different.
The first result of their collaboration is this debut
CD Turn To You. The newly released single, Flyin Away
had been released in late April. The trip-hop beats
found Zamza bracketed with the likes of Fatboy Slim and
Moorcheeba. The track also established a reputation for
the band as purveyors of classy, post-club, comedown
vibes that was reinforced by listening to the entire
album.
As a counter to the brash triumphalism of Britpop
like you hear in the song Teddy Bear, the album reflects
the darker underbelly of the times with that soulful and
coffee house vibe. Turn To You has led to both critical
acclaim and should now reach commercial success, as well
gain fans through a tour of the US which will start
later this year. In addition to the Teddy Bear single
being worked to Top 40 radio, Sunset Records will also
work Flyin Away in the same manner. At the same time,
all the songs on Turn To You will be worked to the
Electronic and Club Formats all over the world.
The band will have the chance to showcase the entire CD
at the City of Ponds area in their hometown, Khabarovsk,
Russia. That event is sponsored by the premier cellular
giant, Beeline, and is taking place in the center area
of town. Thousands of people are expected at the show.
The band truly got its start in 2001 back in
Khabarovsk, Russia Zamza. What was initially a very
dance-oriented project evolved and gained Zamza the
reputation for being one of the most interesting and
original dance-music projects in The Russian Far East.
It was a kind of break-beat, big beat mixed with the
original Russian Far East's native people voices, Max K.
one of the bands members. In April, 2003 Zamza presented
a live show at the 18th Far Eastern Festival of rock and
alternative music. The show was a true break-through as
the band gained their first bit of press in that region.
In 2003 Zamza worked with the Brighton, UK based Raw42
Music Co Ltd. All twelve (12) tracks had been included
in Raw42's production catalogue while several tracks
were used in advertisements, commercials and TV-shows.
In May, 2003 Zamza's cover of CJ Bolland song Sugar Is
Sweeter was then named the "Track of the Month" at
Raw42. In 2004 and 2005 Zamza took part in electronic
music festival called the "Ledocool" in
Komsomolsk-on-Amur" along with the Russian electronic
music super-star "Net Slov". Their track "Octopus SPP"
had been included into Ledocool electronic music
compilation. Zamza then went onto win the All-Russian
music contest Muse On 2005 in Moscow.
Two years later, Turn To You finds Zamza with fresh
musical pastures yet again on this debut album, embraces
the trip hop sounding vocals of Evgenya Strochinskaya,
the shredding American jam band style of guitar playing
of Serge Tarakhteyev. While collaborating with the
incredible keyboard and production work of Max K. This
"trip Hop, "power Pop" band is well on their way to
worldwide success.
The debut album being released all over the world on
Sunset Records on July 10th with advance copies being
sold as MP3's at Sunset's Music Store (www.SunsetMusicStore.com).
Everybody is expecting another moody mélange of
after-midnight beats. "One of the main singles is very
much a Top 40 song," says Lichterman, "you can hear that
they decided to embark on their own fresh overall sound
instead of staying on that same quest for the perfect
pop song." Lichterman continues, "I am working a few
songs simultaneously in a few different formats all this
year."
Where the band will venture next musically remains to
be seen because even today, they are preparing for a new
CD to be released next year. Expect them to play live in
the United States this year for the first time ever
beginning in the fall, 2007.
(Khabarovsk,
Russia) - - (BILLBOARD PUBLICITY WIRE) - Beeline, the
premier mobility solutions provider in the Russian
region, is co-sponsoring, along with Pacific Media, the
'Zamza live in Concert' show. The show will take
place at the City Of Ponds outdoor area in the center of
Khabarovsk, Russia on Tuesday, June 12th,
2007.
Beeline has
also launched a promotion whereby 1,500 to 3,000 Zamza
fans will get to see Zamza in person free, for this
anniversary event.
During
this very special show located in Eastern Russia,
Zamza's lucky die-hard fans will hear them perform all
of their songs hitting radio this month. They include
Flyin’ Away', 'Teddy Bear', Somethin’ Bout Love', and
'Use Your Chance' - are all singles from their latest
album, 'Turn To You'.
Zamza
is now becoming one of the most successful music
performers in the world. Their two singles are being
worked to Top Forty and Electronics formats at
Radio. They have digital sales and digital
promotions being set up in more than 30 countries.
The
concert in Russia is expected to attract a sizeable
audience from around the
Eastern Russian area
as well as various other parts of Russia.
Beeline is the fastest growing retail brand in
Russia, with its strategy of continuously expanding
its operations across the region. Beeline has
adopted a two-folded approach for its plans in that
region by focusing on both its retail outlets and
product portfolio expansion. The company is
broadening its product line and expanding its brand
name by placing greater emphasis on its concept of
'Mobility' to customers. Promoting events like the
Zamza show on June 12th gives the company
the opportunity to showcase a range of devices to
work with to mobile phones.
Announcing Beeline's event, the Managing Director of
Beeline had the idea to produce the Zamza concert
which perfectly compliments Beeline's brand image.
Zamza is considered one of the top new pop
alternative acts in the world, and Beeline has built
a reputation over the years as a brand that
symbolizes youth and vibrancy. Further, the company
believes that music is one of the best ways to
connect with youngsters to create top of the mind
recall. Being associated with an up and coming act
like the band Zamza assures tremendous brand mileage
for Beeline. Considering the bands international
appeal, huge fan following across Russia, and the
United States shows and music conferences, this is
the perfect time for a promotion of this nature.
Zamza’s new CD hits retail stores all over the world
on July 10th through Sunset Records.
‘This is the perfect record release party for the
‘Turn To You’ CD,” says Don Lichterman, the head of
Sunset Records. ‘We are working two songs to Top 40
and we are also working two other songs to the
electronic format, Lichterman says about his work
ahead of the Sunset label this month. Zamza’s ‘Turn
To You’ marks the first worldwide release at Sunset
Records in its less than two years since starting
the label. ‘I have the SSM Licensing division and
the eSunset digital division working like machines,”
Lichterman continues, “It is now time to get the
main label working like a machine by introducing
Zamza to the rest of the world.”
Hailing from the
eastern part of Russia, ZAMZA is a well-respected, major
indie label signed, three-piece "Trip Hip Power Pop" band.
(Billboard
Publicity Wire) May 26, 2007
-- Their debut CD, which will be in stores on July 10th, is
entitled, "Turn To You," and should serve to further
skyrocket the band's trajectory in the music industry. They
are currently hard at work performing live in Russia
throughout May and June - gearing up for the new release on
Sunset Records in July 2007.
ZAMZA is unquestionably one of the most unique emerging
artists today and is currently considered one of the most
innovative bands around. Their music is intense,
breathtaking, ranging from psychedelic driving club style
sounds, to a progressive alternative pop style of music,
blended with a wonderful compendium of other sounds in
between.
The album was recorded at the Novikov Studio in Vladivostok,
Russia, just 40 minutes from the bands home town of
Khabarovsk. The band is fronted by keyboardist, producer Max
K., who combined his talent with musicians Serge Tarakhteyev
(guitar), and singer Evgenya Strochinskaya (Vocalist)
completes the trio. "We have an entire CD of quality music
to work, "says Don Lichterman, the founder and head of
Sunset Records."They are some of the most intense musicians
I have heard in a long time," Lichterman continues, "I
cannot wait to get them all over America this year."
ZAMZA "is extremely happy about our new
recording deal with Sunset Records for our debut album,"
comments Max K.. "Sunset has established itself as one of
the world's top independent record labels. We couldn't be
more enthusiastic about working with them to expand our
audience to the United States and elevate the band to the
next level." The band was found by the label through its
online A&R submittal tool and Lichterman "could not more
thrilled" how the band came to the label.
Lichterman goes on to say that he "was getting ready to
encode the music for eSunset and was blown away the second I
heard the first song." The first single is "Flyin' Away"
which showcases the wonderful vocals and melodic songs on
this CD. Lichterman expects two United States tours this
year. The fall plans for the band are to work strategic
bookings where the band can play their own style of music
for many hours. "We expect some great things from this band
this year," Lichterman said from his New York office. This
is the first signing at the main label at Sunset.
Coincidentally, Lichterman booked the band Gorky Park at the
studio he managed in 1989. They were the first Russian band
to ever record in the United States.
CHUCK DARROW/Courier-Post
Angel Alamo (left) and Don
Lichterman are the principals of
Alamo Records, which is releasing
five CDs this month, including
Grayscale's 'That Flawless Flashing
Day.'
By CHUCK DARROW
Courier-Post Staff
If Alamo Records had a motto, it would be,
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."
By the end of this month, the Camden-based
label will have released nationally the first five of its
CDs. That an independent label from Camden has accomplished
this is noteworthy enough. Given the history behind Alamo,
it's almost miraculous.
Alamo was founded in 2004 by Camden native
Angel Alamo. In early 2005, just as the label was preparing
to release a batch of CDs, its distribution deal went south,
leaving Alamo, 28, with little more than his dreams of being
a music-industry mogul.
As one who was, and remains, passionate
about Camden and its future, Alamo -- who regularly blogs
about the city on this paper's Web site -- channeled his
energies into politics, becoming a member of the board of
commissioners of the Camden Parking Authority. He also kept
a foot in show business by booking entertainment for
Riversharks games.
But the urge to discover and promote new
musical artists couldn't be denied.
"At the end of the day," he says, "I
couldn't keep myself away from music. Even if I won the
lottery, I would still be doing music because it's a passion
and a labor of love.
"It made me more determined, and made me
stay focused on what I needed to do (to succeed). You can
either quit, or not give up. I didn't want to give up.
"In life," he continues, "it's important
to do what you love to do. Ever since I was a kid I always
loved music."
So, Alamo, who still keeps his day job at
a Philadelphia-based insurance company, set out to find a
music-industry gig. "I sent out resumes to just about every
major (independent) label -- four or five times," he says.
Last year, he came across an online
solicitation by the New York-based Sunset Records Group. The
company, which is headed by founder-CEO Don Lichterman, was
seeking someone for an A&R (Artists & Repertoire) -- or
talent scout -- position. As fate would have it, Lichterman
is a Cherry Hill native.
Alamo's reply grabbed his attention.
"I was impressed with his resume," recalls
Lichterman, veteran music business executive who has
worked with such superstars as the Grateful Dead, Tom Petty
and Hootie & The Blowfish.
"We had about 300 submissions, but right
off the bat I was impressed that he'd had a record label.
That's value to me."
Lichterman adds that Alamo's early failure
mattered not at all. "If you didn't get knocked around in
this industry," he reasons, "you're not in this industry."
Instead, Lichterman, who recently moved
back to Cherry Hill, suggested something much bigger than
what he originally had in mind for Alamo.
"I said, "Let's create a little more value
than a measly A&R job,' " he recalls.
Lichterman's offer was fueled by Alamo's
apparent knowledge of, and involvement in, this region's
various musical scenes.
For Alamo, Lichterman's offer to fund the
label was half of his dream come true. The other part of the
equation is Sunset's affiliation with the national
distribution arm of the giant Sony/BMG organization. After
all, the lack of distribution is what torpedoed Alamo's
initial effort at having a label.
One holdover from Alamo's first go-round
is his insistence that the label not be genre-specific.
"I want to be a full-service music label,"
he explains. "When rap dies out, what are you going to do?
It's better to focus on musicians than on one type of music
or an image."
Among those on the label's roster is
Toronto-based rocker K.Page, who says she signed with Alamo
Records because of the artist-centric philosophy shared by
the imprint's two principals.
"They're very dedicated to the artists
they've worked with," says the performer whose CD, "Green
City," was issued May 5. "They've been very generous, and
help out any way they can.
"They want to be fair and have everybody
benefit. You can have a conversation with them if you need
to.
"They do things a small label doesn't
necessarily have to do. They're really behind the music."
Sunset Records Group (SRG), one of
the world's leading indie music companies, today announced
that SNOCAP will include the label's digital music content
from the entire Sunset Records Group catalog at MySpace.
CAP
MyStores will make SRG artists' music available for sale
through the MySpace MusicService. New material released at
Sunset Records and all material signed to Sunset Music
Publishing will be made available through the SNOCAP MyStore
Digital Player. Also now available through SNOCAP are the
eSunset Records catalog and the Sunset Live catalog. eSunset
is SRG's digital only record label and Sunset Live is SRG's
site for live downloads.
Don Lichterman, the head of SRG says, "For years, I had been
trying to better understand their business model and today,
I see their vision in a clear and impressive way." SRG now
has four (4) fully operable MySpace pages with SNOCAP's
Digital Player. "Our staff worked hard to get the music up
at all of the My Space sites while clearing that music with
SNOCAP." The first two My Space pages have generated
thousands of friends and visits in just a month. "We expect
the response for the digital sites like Sunset Live and
eSunset to be even greater due to the fact they are both
community driven mediums within the record industry."
MySpace.com/SunsetRecords and the
MySpace.com/SunsetMusicPublishing pages are geared towards
the labels artists and the Publishing entity's artists at
Sunset have been opened for the last month.
MySpace.com/eSunsetRecords and
MySpace.com/SunsetLiveRecordings were opened this week.
Digital tracks from artists Whitfield, Jono Manson, Boy
George, Sneaker Pimps, Fatboy Slim, Pepper, Gavin Friday,
Charlie Gracie, Tommy Conwell, Reach Around Rodeo Clowns,
and more will now be available for sale through SNOCAP
MyStores on Sunset's MySpace pages. The SRG catalog will not
only be made available at the Sunset MySpace pages and
digital stores, but they will also be available through its
artists' own web pages, community web sites, fan blogs, and
email.
The availability of the digital tracks from these and
other SRG artists through the MySpace SNOCAP branded
MyStores gives consumers access to a variety of music
content that range from pop to classical to avante garde to
urban to religious/christian. All of Sunset MyStore's are a
digital storefront, backed by SNOCAP's landmark proprietary
online content registry of over 3.3 million tracks. The
MySpace Music Service, launched in December 2006, is also
powered by SNOCAP. SNOCAP's one-stop registration allows
labels to clear and manage their licensing rights across
multiple online destinations in real-time. Using
sophisticated music fingerprinting technology to identify
and catalog the music, SNOCAP ensures that the proper
rights-holder is paid when with every sale.

NEW YORK, New York, February 25, 2007 -
One of the top rockabilly bands of all time, The Reach
Around Rodeo Clowns, releases The Clowns Remain The Same as
a video download. This DVD turned video download is a
hilarious satirical look at the music industry. The video
also features some of the best Reach Around Rodeo Clowns
live concert footage ever to be documented by the band.
Quentin Jones, the founder of Lanark Records loves being a
part of today's technology and plans to release more
archived music from the label this way.
"This new release is the first in many this year for the
label" says Quentin Jones, the founder of Lanark Records.
"We are excited to release brand new music by Charlie Gracie
and Tommy Conwell along with a brand new CD plus DVD by the
Reach Around Rodeo Clowns." All three artists have already
started recording at the world famous Lanark Studios in
Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Records, the label that
distributes Lanark says that "you can never go wrong with
great rock n roll music." He goes onto say "adding the value
of great live concert video to the Clowns upcoming CD
release is perfect for the band." The Reach Around Rodeo
Clowns are the top downloaded artist at Sunset. That was
part reason that prompted the band to go back to work into
the studio this year. "It was Don who came to me in our A&R
meetings about adding a DVD," says Jones about the release
slated to hit stores in June.
The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns announced a live tour in
March to work out the new songs. The band will head back to
the famed Lancaster studio to finish the recording and
complete the final mixes. For now, The Clowns Remains The
Same will be featured at the Sunset web sites and also at
Amazon Unbox starting next month. Additionally, the band
will also start selling its live concert downloads at the
Sunset-Live.com web site in March. There is no plan for live
video downloads though Lichterman and Jones say that will
happen by the summer as they start to release the archives
from the Lanark studio vaults.

NEW YORK, New York, February 13, 2007 -
Rejean comes to Sunset from the
Full Sail Company as both a student and as the artist
relations staff person. More recently, he worked doing A&R
and Producer work for the Envision Music Group and WG3
Entertainment. He is the winner of the Song of The Year
Contest Supporting VH-1's Save The Music Foundation in July
2005's Pop Category Winner for his original song “Sing To
You” and has been named the Southeast Regional A&R Person
for Sunset Records.
Don Lichterman, the head of
Sunset says, "this will prove to be one of the best
additions at the company" and he goes on to say "it also
marks the first in what will be many A&R staff people added
around the United States to do our day to day A&R."
Sunset has made great strides in developing music by
continuing to be one the most efficient A&R driven labels in
the world. Their automatic A&R submission tool has already
garnered 5 signings in the last week with artists from all
over the world. "What is happening now at Sunset is our A&R
resources are starting to come full circle and we are seeing
those success stories every week" says Lichterman.
Lichterman continues by saying, "the best part of this last
week's signings is that we signed bands from all over the
world." Lichterman also states that "the waste element is
diminishing too in this industry and this is truly the
spirit of what the internet can provide for finding and
distributing new music from every where in the world."
This month, the label started hiring A&R
staff people located in key markets in the United States. "I
want this label to be on the pulse of every kind of music
because with our system, we have the development tools in
place to truly work a band on every level and in a big way"
says the Head of Sunset, Don Lichterman. Rejean GERMAIN, the
latest staff person hired at Sunset is located in their
South East Regional Office in Florida. GERMAIN says, "this
is a great opportunity to have the distribution tool to work
great music with our staff at Sunset." "Don has provided me
with those incredible resources along with an amazing cost
effective system that works today while embracing future
technologies."

NEW YORK, New York, February 1, 2007 – Sunset
Records (SRG), one of the worlds fastest growing Independent
Record Labels announced today a deal with its Strategic
Marketing Division (SSM) and The SongCatalog "Music
Licensing Network." This unprecedented deal with the leading
licensing and advertising network will give Sunset the
ability to add its entire catalog of recorded music to this
impressive licensing network. The Music Licensing Network
is enhancing the way advertising music is globally licensed,
while creating one of the world's most comprehensive
advertising industry music resources in the world.
“What this deal does for
our distribution tool is allow all of our recorded music
content to be placed into their licensing and advertising
network” says Don Lichterman, the Founder and Chairman of
the Sunset Record Company, “What was limited to us turning
over a few songs here and there by music by artists signed
to the main Sunset label, can now be offered to all of the
music artists at all of the labels we distribute at Sunset;
including those artists signed to eSunset Records.” eSunset
is the digital only record label at SRG that boasts hundreds
of artists signed to the label for digital distribution.
Lichterman goes on to say that “because of the cutting edge
technology at SongCatlog, their staff provides an interface
that was easily integrated into our digital system at Sunset
literally in days. “Lichterman continues, “And, we can now
spread ourselves thin so to speak, by covering every genre
and every style of music that is licensed out to other
companies” and “because of the vast nature of the signings
over the last year and half at Sunset, we have music
available for every genre, style, mood and theme.”
The SongCatalog "Music Licensing Network
provides Music Publishers, Record Labels, Film/TV Production
Companies, Songwriters/Artists & Producers direct access to
recorded music. They have recently had songs placed with top
companies like Polo / Ralph Lauren, Adidas, Zellers,
Bacardi, A&W Root Beer, Nabisco, AMEX, Lexus and some of the
major ad agencies that use this network for song placement
are Grey Worldwide, Chicago Creative, Deutsche, Off Madison
Avenue, Doner Advertising and McCann Erickson. Film and
Television Production Companies also use this network to
find songs for their projects along with other record labels
for CD Compilations, Soundtracks and all of the top music
publishing companies like Zomba, MGM Music, Windswept, Fox
Music and now Sunset Music are partners with The SongCatalog
"Music Licensing Network.
Sunset has already added hundreds of award
winning artists and songwriters placed into this network
that include Tommy Conwell, Boy George (DJ & Solo), Fatboy
Slim, Death In Vegas, The Crystal Method, Tosca, Reach
Around Rodeo Clowns, Eve Gallagher, Kan’Nal, Sneaker Pimps,
Gavin Friday and the legendary multi platinum artist Charlie
Gracie which includes the song duet with none other than
Graham Nash (C.S.N.Y.). “We already have the entire Sunset
Records catalog in place and have already been placing our
material to companies that need songs” Lichterman says about
the Sunset Records catalog of recoded music, “Now; this
integration is a part of the Sunset system where every song
we add to our catalog will get added to this licensing
network.” Lichterman is genuinely excited to be able to
offer this to every band signed to the label, including
those signed to digital distribution deals at eSunset.
This deal provides a great
extension in the Sunset Strategic Marketing (SSM) division
which boasts 86 DVD and CD titles in its catalog. The added
work of licensing the music from the entire Sunset Records
Group of Labels out to major Advertising Agencies, Recording
Labels, Film/TV Companies and top branded companies in their
field is a huge revenue source for the music industry today.
“This is our efficient way to have our music heard by some
of the top companies around the world that license music,”
says Lichterman. Any project signed to eSunset Records,
Sunset Music Publishing, Sunset Live, Sunset Classics and
Jazz Recordings and of course all of the SRG distributed
labels like Lanark, Alamo, Blue Mountain, and Sunset Records
are added to this network.
(Billboard Publicity Wire / PRWeb) New York, NY – January 22,
2007 – The SRG digital only record label eSunset
has become the first online record label to adopt a new
online demo submission system. This will begin to change the
way young music artists will deal with demo tape
submissions.
For decades the demo tape and more recently
demo CD have piled up the post office crates at all of the
major record companies. The new 'A&R Submittal' feature
allows all music artists to upload their mp3 song files
along with text copy and publicity pictures of their band.
The music folder is sent out at the beginning of every day
to everyone that does A&R at all of the Sunset companies and
Sunset distributed labels. The music is systematically
brought together without the IT person hearing any of the
music, and then is sent as a stream directly to everyone
that works as a Sunset A&R national staff person. The
eSunset system logs everything the A&R team has reviewed and
every artist will be responded to with great comments about
their music. Artists are also automatically informed once
their tracks have been reviewed by any of the A&R staff. The
system, currently in use by all of the Sunset labels, will
be just yet another way to help young bands save money. The
beta testing was successful and the entire team is now using
this feature as an everyday part of finding new bands and
artists.
Bands today just send their music online with traditional demo
recordings that never get through the mail servers. The
labels will also get spammed with a large number of mails
containing web site links and actual mp3 files which clog
the mailboxes. There may be a chance that these demos get a
listen from a professional A&R person at the label however;
there is absolutely no efficient way of cataloging the
submittals, let alone to have the ability to respond to the
bands or what they have heard to date. There is no true way
to match the demos the A&R staffers like with the ones the
artist may have previously submitted to the company. The new
system is set up to be delivered every morning to everyone
on the A&R staff. All of the reviewing is completed by the
A&R team at all of the distributed labels at Sunset. The
music artists and/or the songs that are ready for major
independent distribution are then automatically passed to
the more senior members of the team.
The system was implemented by the record label exec and
founder that happens to have a Masters Degree in E-Commerce
from the University of Maryland, Don Lichterman. Don, who is
not a stranger to the demo process from his own professional
music experience, set up the automated A&R submittal system
at Sunset. The company does employ top multimedia developers
from as far as the Eastern Europe countries to complete the
web site and implement this into the digital system.
Lichterman comments "There is an obvious problem with waste
in this industry that needed to be resolved in order for us
to improve how the label accepts what has always been a
large numbers of demos. Bands and artists have always used
all sorts of resources to try to get their music heard by
record label executives. Now, with an entirely new medium
booming in the modern years, it makes sense that there are
new ways to inundate record labels with music. I want to
ensure every last band gets heard and that as many songs get
listened to as possible. Our new A&R Submittal system will
not only help improve our ability to work directly on the
core area of A&R in a cost effective way, it will also
improve our ability of reviewing demos in a time saving
way."
Sunset Head, Don Lichterman comments, "I can now automatically
spread this out to get the opinion of every type of A&R
person at Sunset which I doubt had ever been traditionally
with demo CDs. One of our top priorities with doing A&R on
this level is to keep our ways of finding new music
innovative, efficient and ahead of the rest of the industry.
This new system allows us to do just that, while we set a
great precedent to help bands find other ways to save money
when trying to get distribution with the labels."
The Sunset A&R Submittal system is run through the eSunset
Records digital system and is linked from every page at all
of the Sunset web sites. The process is spelled out on the
A&R Submittal page at eSunset with exact directions on how
to deal with uploading your music so it is set up or
"queued" to be listened to by every A&R person on the Sunset
staff.
(Billboard Publicity Wire / PRWeb) New York, NY – January 20,
2007 – Alamo Records, an innovative record company,
announced today it is launching a new artist-friendly record
label, with records to be distributed by Sunset Records /
SRG Distribution in the U.S. and licensed for territories
around the globe.
The new record company will be distributed digitally with all
artists splitting the net profits along with them having a
“physical option” to be distributed the traditional way to
brick and mortar retail outlets as well as with the
traditional royalty structure. Recording artist Eddy Culjak
and rock group B.I.T.E., along with Nuphar and B.L.O. are
the first to sign to the company.
Angel Alamo, President of Alamo Records and architect of the
new record company, said, "This is an amazing opportunity
for Alamo to be a part of a new music business model that
shifts power back to the artists and shifts the focus back
to the music itself. There is no better way to gauge music
than to it digitally today and this is the one of the best
ways to give our music a chance to be heard in this tough
marketplace. I think the possibilities are endless now that
we can find fresh ways to develop support and break great
music and the talented artists behind that music.”
"The innovative record label model built by Don Lichterman and
his team at SRG gives our bands the most viable ways to be
heard all over the world. They are progressive thinkers
whose artist-oriented approach is not only empowering the
creative community; it is the most cost effective way to
make money in this industry today. The Sunset Record Label
has embraced the landscape of distribution today rather than
looking at what are the difficulties plaguing today’s music
business, the entire company is poised for the future,”
Alamo added.
The label model created for the entire company is the latest
in a series of deals by SRG/Sunset that is reengineering
entertainment industry distribution. Its goal has always
been to strengthen common interests between the artists and
the recording companies. As a consequence of these deals,
SRG has been evolving into a unique new kind of record
company with the capacity not only to digitally distribute
music artists, but to also produce market and promote
physical CDs all over the world. A number of those
groundbreaking deals have been supported by SRG, one the
world’s fastest growing independent record labels.
“SRG is delighted to distribute the Alamo Records music
company not only in the U.S., to also develop its artists to
a global audience. The Alamo label roster will be another
strong source for the repertoire of new music artists for
SRG regionally and then eventually worldwide,” said Don
Lichterman, Chairman Sunset Holding, Co. worldwide. “Angel
shares my A&R view that our changing industry is one where
it is to key to get into that distribution system today. As
a result, we’re already having great successes with the deal
we did with Alamo on Eddy Culjak and B.I.T.E. We look
forward to this being solid venture.”
Last year, Alamo engineered an innovative promotion with
eSunset, Sunset’s digital only record label that put SRG and
Alamo in a partnership with the band B.I.T.E. All parties
benefit from the rock group's overall success. The B.I.T.E.
first record under the digital agreement caught the eye of a
staff person at eSunset, and that led to the label signing
between Sunset and Alamo.
In another recent deal with SRG, Alamo artist Eddy Culjak
self-produced a new album and Alamo handled such record
company functions as A&R, marketing, promotion and publicity
for the new artist, while SRG handles distribution. His
songs at MySpace, have been listened over 10,000 streams in
a very short period of time.
Alamo’s artist’s on its roster have excelled recently in the
online music communities and currently are responsible for
tens of thousands of downloads, spins and listens at MySpace
over the last month. Meanwhile, Alamo is aggressively
seeking new talent and signing new artists to digital deals
with a physical option be distributed the traditional way
through Sunset’s SRG Distribution system.
The new music company, will be housed in Camden, New Jersey
with office space and full use of the resources at the
Sunset main office in New York City.

North American Release Date - 5th September 2006
UK/European/South American/ROW Release Date – 22nd January
2007
'Dreamwalker',
the eagerly anticipated new album from
Kan’Nal, has been set for a Worldwide release of Monday 22nd January
via Sunset Records (North
American release is Tuesday 5th September).
'Gypsy', the first single taken from the
album, will be released as a digital download worldwide on
2nd January (see below for partial listing for all digital
download sites).
A Special Edition
version of the album will be released worldwide on 22nd
January. The Special Edition version will include a
coupon for a bonus Video
download mixed in 5.1 Surround
Sound courtesy of engineer Mateo.
Featuring eight new songs written and arranged
by Tzol, 'Dreamwalker' is the world music artist's
first album since the 2004 'EP' and the second
installment in a world musical journey that originally began
with the release of the 'Self-Titled' CD in 2001.
Written and arranged by Tzol with engineering assistance
courtesy of Mateo (a regular Kan’Nal
collaborator who has also worked with the band live production
team). "'The Self Titled CD' is one particular journey in
early 2001 when Tzol met guitarist Tierro in the village of
San Marcos on the magical lake Atitlan. Writing songs and
performing together in Guatemala inspired them to capture
their vision on an album. “Tzol explains that the "'EP' was
when Kan’Nal gained a new visual and mystical dimension.
This new one is about cries that have flown over the Nevada
desert at Burning Man, sounded from the Rockies at Dreamtime
in Colorado, and echoed through the Earthdance Festival in
California, drawing thousands of listeners to join Kan’Nal
on their journey."
'Dreamwalker' selections include the
title track and the debut single 'Gypsy'. Also
featured is 'Time', 'Iris', 'Oxlahun',
'Sun and Moon' and a live version of 'Animal Angel'.
The album will be made available as both a CD and a Digital
Download in high-resolution audio and 5.1 Surround Sound.
Blending rock, soul and a plethora of other
musical influences with extended grooves and ever changing
musical textures, 'Dreamwalker' has already been
compared to the Peter Gabriel classic 'Gabriel
Live' set showcasing rock with world music at just a
high level.
"The music, the dances,
the story in the songs proclaim, ‘tear down the borders,
unite the colors, bring down the fire and walk as one’
(“Gypsy”) developed naturally in some way", says Tzol.
"Shake my bones ‘til they shatter/shake my soul like a
rattle” (“Desert Flower”) are words that you develop
naturally and stick with it.” And when you get a groove
going, around extended, richly textured world, soul and rock
grooves, the themes of "Dreamwalker" range from impending
mortality and a goal towards an overall feeling of one
people, one color, and one earth.
"Living together near the
lake, all four drew inspiration from the beauties and
hardships that surrounded them now," Tzol remarks on his
songwriting strategy. "Kan’Nal gained a new visual and
mystical dimension."
Tzol’s renowned lyrical spirituality once more comes to the
fore throughout 'Dreamwalker'. The hint of tribal
attack in 'Desert Flower' was written after the
Earthdance festival hit California. "The song echoed through
the Earthdance Festival in California, drawing thousands of
listeners to join Kan’Nal on their journey", he says. 'Dreamwalker'
was recorded in village of San Marcos on the magical Lake
Atitlan in Guatemala. The album features an extraordinary
line-up of musicians, many of who have previously worked
with Tzol and his band Kan’Nal on stage and in the studio.
Included are drummer Gilly,
bassist Rodolfo, guitarists Tzol and Tierro,
Didgeridoo, percussion, and samples Aaron and Performance
art by
Teresita and Akayate. Tzol performs Vocals, lyrics,
and plays rhythm guitar.
Kan’Nal's
Worldwide tour starts on 21st December on a small pyramid in
the Mundo Perdido of the ancient city of Tikal, Guatemala.
The album's South American and Worldwide release date
coincides with a hometown shows in Guatemala along with
Mexico and Costa Rica. Kan’Nal toured and played over 70
live shows in 2006, when they released the critically
acclaimed studio album ‘Dreamwalker'.
From 27th December, 'Gypsy', the first single
taken from 'Dreamwalker', will be made available as digital
download at every online provider in the world.
