Sunset Records has inked a multi album deal with guitarist/singer-songwriter Steve Garcia.

(Steve) Garcia is a multi-faceted artist that has an extensive catalog of songs already written and ready to be released, however, the label plans on releasing a ten (10) song debut CD at the beginning of summer. “Steve (Garcia) is in the studio now and I doubt the mix will need much considering his talent as a vocalist,” says Don Lichterman. “Every song the guy has turned over to me in the last month, has been ready to go onto a CD which is something I marveled at working on the label end.” His raw talent caught the attention of Sunset Records founder Don Lichterman, who was also “excited by not only his vox and musicianship,” but was also “excited by his sophisticated and accessible lyrics.

The impressive artist plans to release his debut to stores by May or June this year. There are plans for live showcases in California and a potential tour in support of the yet to be named debut CD.

Online Retail Company, Sunset Vending is being launched this week by founder Don Lichterman.

Sunset Vending will set up its artists from its indie labels with specific popular merchandise items that bands will be able to sell online at Sunset Vending, at their own websites, at the labels web sites, at Amazon’s store along with being able to sell these products at their live shows. Sunset distributes (Sunset Distribution Company) an array of established and brand new acts like Sekshun 8, Gina Thompson, Federal Moguls (QBall from Bloodhound Gang), Anthony Geraci, TenPenny Joke, Down From Zero, Capt. Crunk, Original Black Pantah, I Kong along with Mark Simmons, Deon Cole, Kevin Hart and other live recordings from shows at the Laff House Comedy Club. “I am in hope that the Sunset Vending Company will give us the ability to showcase some cool band merchandise," says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Vending, “and that has already begun to pay off because even just yesterday; I picked up a unique product line hand made by a fan of the band Sekshun 8.”

(Don) Lichterman then says, that he “implemented the merch company’s business plan in the same exact way that I started my other companies at Sunset, which is to accompany my new signings with established, branded and legendary music artists.” Sunset Vending plans to allow bands to get their merchandise into dedicated fans hands without having to buy them at shows and Sunset Vending will also be selling official licensed products by popular music artists.

Latino pop superstar Pascal G. signs major deal with Sunset

Sunset’s Pascal G. will record a full length CD with award winning producer (Jack White) as well as releasing a very special song for the UNICEF Organization.

Latino pop singer Pascal G. is the newest world music superstar to sign a recording deal, record a full length CD with the award winning producer Jack White (Barry Manilow, Laura Branigan, Al Martino, David Hasselhoff, Paul Anka, Pia Zadora, Jermaine Jackson, more) and that shows his philanthropic ways by giving away all proceeds for the download of his first single to the UNICEF Organization.

The pop star announced a deal that will cover his recordings, distribution, production, sponsorship, merchandising and the release of a five (5) songs EP with the proceeds of all sales for the UNICEF song going direct to the UNICEF Organizations..

The value of the multi album deal was not disclosed in the press release today; the label however, plans to release an EP so it can provide revenues from the sale of downloads, ringtones and streams, to UNICEF. Also included on the upcoming release is the hit song, “Tale Of Lola,” one version is in English, and there is another version in Spanish on the upcoming CD.

At such a young age, Pascal G. is already acting like a veteran with his craft, having released his debut music video of the song, ‘Tale Of Lola,” that debuted this week online with servicing to the companies that play music videos. His English-Spanish intersections have come about due in part to this deal with Sunset. He (Pascal G.) is one of the Latin world's most popular international music artists, releasing the initially at Universal Music International, and now with Sunset Record’s world music label, Tropical Records.

“Even though we are running this though the Tropical label at Sunset,” says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset, I want the Interscope / Geffen distribution system to deal with that aspect of this project.” Tropical Records uses Island / Def Jam digital distribution for its artist’s releases. He also follows in the direct paths of other international superstars like Shakira, Madonna, Jay-Z and U2 by signing a wide-ranged deal versus the traditional types of deals at mainstream record labels.

In recent months, Sunset is expanding its company’s operations into booking its artists shows worldwide with travel excursions that take their artists and their fans around the world and to see and hear unique live events. The company is also expanding its merchandising effort, is creating a children’s division as well as strengthening its marketing efforts by building its artists' relationships with their fan bases.

Sunset Strategic Marketing and Sunset Special Markets Division (SSM) continues the Sunset Records global expansion of its recorded music catalog by signing Susan Dezenhall Schwartz to release the first volume of the Sing And Sign A Language CD Set!

Sunset Strategic Marketing (SSM) is now implementing a children’s division based in New York City and the plan is to do more languages (Hebrew, etc. coming in 2010) in this same exact way to spearhead the new division at the label. This particular CD series is geared for parents that want their children to experience the stimulation of learning many languages through children’s styled music. The concept had been developed a few years ago by Susan Dezenhall Schwartz who has been teaching children for the past few decades and the Sunset Strategic Marketing (SSM) division now plans to embrace the children’s markets with motivating, inspiring and educational Latin and World music. Lichterman says that the plan is to “teach Spanish to kids in an easy and fun way and in ways that is very familiar to many stages of children’s development in their young years,” The CD set is the perfect ways to teach and learn the Spanish language. Pascal G. and his new world music flavored songs are at the heart of Latin Pop Markets. Sunset moves its record label web sites to the Secure Green Web Hosting Platform and Web Servers Powered By Wind and Solar Energy

Sunset Records moved over 60 web sites last week to its new web servers powered by wind technology and solar energy

Grayscale is finishing up the mastering of the Haunted Hours CD at the Abbey Road Studios.

The critically acclaimed duo, Grayscale, is mastering their new CD at the world famous Abbey Road Studios in London, England.

Sunset Connect / Sunset Records recording artist, Grayscale, is finishing up mastering their next album (Haunted Hours) this week at Abbey Road Studios. “Even though we have great access with great rates at the Universal Music Recording and Mastering Studios,” says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset, “the guys (Grayscale) want to use Abbey Road to master the CD.” He (Don Lichterman) then says that “the band is finishing up the mastering of their first single, “End Of The World,” this week and I am still in hope of making that February 2^nd, street day,” (Don) Lichterman continues to say about the mastering of the CD, “at the same time I want them to deal their own meticulous and creative way.”

The entire full length 13 song CD is written and produced by William Weaver and Douglas Dunbar whom make up the band Grayscale. Haunted Hours was recorded and mixed in their (Grayscale) hometown in Cleveland, Ohio and their songs are now being mastered at Abbey Road.

Sunset plans to release this Haunted Hours CD on February 2, 2010 and the label will use the Universal Republic distribution system to work the CD into the top retail outlets all over the world. The CD is filled with 13 pop rock tracks that are all noticeably inspired by the songwriting tandem of William Weaver and Douglas Dunbar.

Under this newly signed mobile distribution agreement, Sunset Records ringtones will be integrated into the Vio Mobile distribution network, enabling millions of users globally to effortlessly discover Sunset’s mobile content. Vio Mobile is also integrating its distributed ringtone catalog with the popular electronics company, Acer, for branded purchases so buyers of the new Acer MP3 Player, can discover its music on the new Acer media player. Fake Elegance signs with Sunset Records today and the label is excited to release the first album this September.

Formed in the Ukraine, Fake Elegance has found the way of casting their wide musical range with a new recording deal at Sunset Records. The band has fused an evocative rock n roll sound mixed with Goth Rock Music and blended sweetly with a Classical music style which comes from the bands passion for fashionable rock and a classical music. “I am glad I finally get to play their music to everyone,” says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Records about the debut CD being set up with a tentative September 29 street day. “Rock music blended with the intricacies of electronic music, classical music and any complex style of music always has the great ability to create what I consider a high level and huge sound with music.”

The band will complete the full length 12 song CD this summer. “The band is finishing up the final song and we will master the CD in New York (City) this month,” says Lichterman. The Full Moon Features Film Company announces the official release of the popular film, KING BONG: EVIL BONG 2 on July 7th. It's 2009 this year, and the three piece Georgia heavy metal rock band, Down From Zero is set to release their debut CD of recorded music with Sunset. Chaos Theory has Rush, Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses and Ozzy/Black Sabbath influences throughout the twelve (12) song CD. Down From Zero is one of the hottest new metal and hard bands that have entered the music scene in a long time. Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset records refers to the members of the band as “some of the sickest players I have heard in rock music and the fact they were not signed this year was great for us at Sunset.” Their playing is so tight throughout every song and it’s obvious this band is not for the faint of heart.”

Not only do we hear Rush and Black Sabbath music influences on these songs, there is even a more rooted vibe in that way Led Zeppelin influences their fans and/or the way Guns N Roses produced their material. Witch Hazel' is another rocker that will turns heads fast for these guys that hail from Georgia. And, then more of the same comes at you with songs like, 'Hail To The King' and ‘Livin The High Life’ show that Led Zeppelin and Rush guitar sound and 'Rust' is yet another hard rocker with a serious groove base that is also led with great melody.

And, rounding off the production was Alan Bradsaw doing the nixing at APB, the mastering was done at Metropolis Studios in the UK.

The result is an honest, in your face production with opulently textured songs throughout the entire CD. The vigor of the writing and the depth of the production is what Sekshun 8 is all about and is what is getting the band initial airplay on rock radio, industry notoriety with placement on the CMJ CD Sampler this month and key bookings that include playing two (2) live shows at the Six Flags Theme Park in New Jersey on July 11.

Sunset Records is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated debut release by the House On The Hill. The rock, dance and funk band is now in the studio now finishing up its full length CD and plans have been finalized for the new recording to be released this fall on Sunset.

Recording for the Punk Ass CD has already begun and the final mixing will begin this month in England.

Sunset Records signs multi record deal with the Georgia rock band, Down From Zero.

Down From Zero, the greatly buzzed Georgian based heavy metal hard rock group featuring vocalist and guitarist Jason Scott, bassist Jonathon Paul and drummer Brian Doggins, has signed an exclusive worldwide recording deal with Sunset Records. The exceptional trio will release its highly anticipated debut album on July 21.

Scott, Paul and Doggins are now being considered as three of hard rock's rookies of the year in the music industry. Their upstart careers in this industry are showcased by an incredible live show with some of the top playing in hard rock today. These three critically acclaimed musicians put together songs and music of monolithic power as a unit. Together they're making some of the best hard rocking and soaring rock music with this lineup of incredible artistic capability which will hopefully lead to commercial success for its new label, Sunset.

"I love this signing for the main label at Sunset. I was in the middle of the 5^th or 6^th song and realized I had to find some ways to develop this band. They are very much distinguished musicians which is easy to hear in seconds, and this powerhouse trio has at least ten (10) songs that I have in hand that should no doubt turn heads in right away in the rock music world. Lichterman continues to say that he “expects the masters to be delivered by the end of the week. And, we want this in stores all over the world by the middle of summer. This past month, Down From Zero played all over their local Georgia territory before signing this deal with Sunset. The group received nothing less than what are rave reviews of their live show. The band is finishing up in the LedBelly Sound studio doing its final mixing and mastering  with Matt Washburn in Georgia in preparation for their upcoming Sunset debut CD with a street day of July 21st.

Spatial Unity is setting up the Knock Me Off My Feet for its official release worldwide through the Sunset Connect record label on May 12!

The Scottish power-pop quartet Spatial Unity is surely one of the current pop music scene's most up and coming innovative artists, with its new recording deal at Sunset Connect, the Knock Me Off Your Feet CD is seeing its first breakout hit song and a critically acclaimed full length CD which is now being released worldwide.

The Knock Me Off My Feet CD is a great expression of its robust-psyche, upbeat-pop, warm-hearted, multi-faceted pop rock band, Spatial Unity. The CD integrates the melodic talents of the popular band, and features gifted musicians; Andy Murray (Wolfstone), Kevin Wiles, Andy Pearce, and Sorren Maclean has combined the fervent guitar quality with the poppy set of vocals that easily accessible to pop music fans all over the world.

The Founder of Sunset Records Opens One of the World’s Most Extensive Animal Friendly and Vegan Related Web Sites

Veg Hed opens its online store providing products never used with animals and strategic partners with activists that are against all forms of animal cruelty.

A New Jersey based organization with shared office space at Sunset in New York City, Veg Hed is now the best resource for “vegan” product and related care products from top brands, and is also set up as a very precise way to find out about pivotal animal activist companies. The company also extended its range of releasing music and video by releasing organic and eco friendly related DVD titles.

Known for its quality of music and innovative record label structure, Sunset is finding ways to use its resources for various forms of activism and awareness. Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset is also the founder of the Sustainable Action Network and the Green Junkee online retail store. Sunset Continues To Develop Music Through Its Digital Record Label

Sunset has just launched a digital record label this month, finding, signing and developing music artists with the overall objective of breaking them through its distribution system, licensing network, radio promotion, press and media departments along with its live download company and radio network.

Sunset Connect is the now the backbone for the Sunset Records digital division and moreover, this is one of their best ways for the label to find new music. The label will function as a newly created division at the Sunset record label based in New York City. The label started this month by releasing full length albums by D’Cyple, Obka, Ric Laue, Kan’Nal, Starr Cullars, Cryout, a Cracker / David Lowery type of songwriter from England named Clayton Road; and many compilations that feature popular music artists (The Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, Sneaker Pimps, Gavin Friday, Eve Gallagher, Boy George, Leftfield, Death In Vegas and more), and will now begin to sign more music every month during this first year.

Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Records, will run the digital only label during the key launch stages in the first few months, finding new talent and implementing the A&R and lead time administration. The Sunset Connect digital label is set up to develop bands working everything to major radio, press, retail and for licensing opportunities in film, TV and commercials in an automated way. Lichterman’s Sunset Live download company will be run through the Sunset Connect distribution system although it will be a standalone company run by its own staff. The live concert download company has just released a very special live concert by the world famous comedian, Roz (Last Comic Standing, Laff House Live).

Lichterman said about the digital label that it is a convergence of many factors with regard to the landscape of distribution and working music today-- including promotional mailings and mailings for music-licensing opportunities, and today, every aspect of a record label can be distributed to radio, retail, press and licensing companies all digitally -- made it the perfect climate to start Sunset Connect. The label will provide the ability to purchase physical CDs for placement at Amazon, Target and its own CD / DVD Store, through its On-Demand system powered by Amazon’s Create Space.

"We have every aspect of what a record label does for its music artists at Sunset Connect, and working music this way is cost effective for artists that it will no doubt be the standard model for record labels," Lichterman said in a press release with Billboard Media Wire. "We are poising Sunset for that time by starting the label today and at the same time, this label pays its artist 70/30 splits on net sales, which will keep everyone recouped making money every pay period.” Sunset Connect will look to hire a label head and other staff members for A&R acquisitions with the label feeding off the Sunset Records divisions for its promotion, licensing, marketing and administration.

While Sunset Records has made great progress in the last year with its new music – the Federal Moguls (QBall from Bloodhound Gang and Troy Walsh (MTV.com) new project and platinum recording artist Gina Thompson’s new project as run through the main label (Sunset Records and Sunset Urban accordingly) -- the Sunset Connect record label will be committed to developing new talent and up-and-coming music artists. Each of the artists on the label has already released indie albums and Sunset Connect distributes the entire catalogs of these artists. "We have great lee way now to develop new music without getting them thousands of dollars in the unrecouped column, and we can take on so many more projects today," Lichterman said.

Sunset Connects business plan has taken the same shape as the rest of the Sunset labels. There is a perfect mix of brand new talent in with established artist signings that are legends in the industry. Of the new bands,  Kan’Nal’s “Gypsy” was the number one song played on the Radio Italia Network last year for a few weeks and D’Cyple’s two songs “My Life” and “Don’t Wanna Be” have broken the top 50 on the Indy Record Pool charts last year and is still being featured in clubs charting every month. Clayton Road also now has two songs in Pure Play’s Music Network and every artist is featured at Pandora. Sunset Connect has digital deals with every top online retailer including iTunes, Real/Rhapsody, eMusic, Amazon MP3, Napster, Shockhound and over 40 outlets. The digital only label does make physical product via Amazon’s On-Demand system making CDs available at Amazon, target and the Sunset Store, however, it will not carry any stock inventory.

Top industry people at major labels and at Indy labels admit there is no set formula for a digital only record label. Lichterman says that he has “found the perfect way to make everyone money and work this music at Sunset Connect as close to what you would do for an artist that has a traditional record deal.” He also was quick to say that the idea of doing this now is almost “overdue, but for us at Sunset, this the perfect time for this type of label considering our label wide rosters at this time. Our traditional label is working like a machine and our artists and staff producer (Rod Millwood) were named on the Grammy Nomination Ballot 68 times leading up to December 5th. We now have the formula to make sure this label works like a cost effective machine and ironically speaking, I could see this label being the one that is the main label as the industry phases out physical DVDs and CDs."
